I was able to get a few caches this weekend. I was in Las Vegas though. Much easier to find caches without 20″ of fresh snow. 😆

Team Honeybunnies, k0rpl and I had planned on a trip to the Milwaukee area for Sunday. Well, with the storm down there, we thought to go north to the Michigan line. The storm moved up there was well.
We stayed within the Appleton metro area, and did quite a few puzzle caches. Probably did some 25 caches in all.
Hiked around 3 mi RT for one set of caches, in snow up to 8 inches deep. Did a lot of digging in the snow for some caches.
Best find – Seth’s gps, after he had dropped it in the snow, and did not notice it was gone for some time.

03/01/2007 at 1:21 am #1770809The dogs and I went out today and got a DNF. Somehow when I download the cords, they got screwed up in my GPSr. So I was never even close to where is need to be. With 9 inches of fresh powder, it made snowshoeing fun. I thought I had the right spot cuz everything seemed to fit. Oh well. Next time. Also a reminder. When clearing snow away….Remember to put your GPSr somewhere where it WONT GET BURIED IN SNOW!! 😯 🙄 I found it thou! We are to get another 8-16 inches in the next few day. That should make things fun. This being my first time caching in heavy snow has me rethinking some of my hides too. Most of them should be OK thou.
03/04/2007 at 5:26 am #1770810Well, I attempted to do some caching, even took my snow brush with but just too much snow. There had to be at least 24 inches of new powder.

My little Abby and a tuff time getting through.

My big Rusty didn’t have it so easy either.

I guess I’ll just have to try these again in a few weeks.
Even wearing my snowshoes I was up to my knees in snow and I’m 6’3″.
Was just a great day to be outside thou.
03/04/2007 at 9:36 pm #1770811Yeah, that’s about how it looks around here, too. Cute doggie photo, ours wants nothing to do with the snow if she can help it. I mean, we have to shovel an area in the backyard for her to go do her business!
We went out and got a couple yesterday, but two more were whiffs due to snow issues. Oh well. We’d hoped to pick up three more along a new bike trail here by x-c skiing today, and it would have been a great day for that, but life issues intervened. I do wonder how many caches are out there buried, though. One we were trying to find seemed to be somewhere under one of the huge piles from the plow. We were looking in the little 4-H garden, but decided that all that shoving away of snow was just looking to passersby like vandalism, so we called it quits. They have a HUGE tractor tire that is probably a planter that is now visible to the world again after being buried in the snow, though.
