Just curious if anyone on here has participated in any of the Ice Age Trail maintenance work days? I spend enough time on the IAT these days that I thought it might be kind of cool to do my part in helping maintain it. Plus, I just really want one of those yellow bandanas! 😆 I’m just curious if anyone knows how serious this is, can I bring children? Should I bring children is maybe a more appropriate question. Any words of wisdom? There are several to chose from in my area in the next few weeks but the one that I’m specifically looking at is this:

Oh the woes of the short geocacher!
Chainsaws and moving lots of large downed branches. Lots of hard work and sweat. Have done it and not seen any kids younger than teenagers. Probably more work than most would realize.
My co-worker’s sister-in-law works in some capacity for the IAT and through e-mail forwards, this is the response I got:
We love to have kids at our work days. Have her call brad crary from my office at 608-798-4453 if there are any questions. He would have the answers to any questions!

But given Mister Greenthumb’s response, since he has been there, that is firsthand knowledge. Maybe call and find out specifically what is being done and where. I don’t know your children’s age and maturity level. Maybe there is work they can do, or maybe for safety sake it would not be a good idea.
Thanks!
