Does anyone else at the WGA use Google Latitude? http://www.google.com/latitude/intro.html
02/09/2010 at 2:07 pm #1921761I took a quick look last night and I have mixed opinions. As a parent – this seems like a nice tool to keep track of your kids. The flip side – Is big brother watching me?

If big brother wants to watch you he has far more sophisticated tools at his disposal.
02/09/2010 at 3:52 pm #1921763OMG, just another gadget so you can keep in touch!
All these fancy …. things …. such as twitter, facebook, and who knows what else is out there …. are like the old fashion baby blanket. Or mother’s apron strings.
I really do not care where Justin is right now. Nor if Benny is working, like he should be. Or what BQ had for supper last night. Blah, blag, blog!
Give me a break!! Better yet, get a life!
How about some quality time with your own family? Read a good book. Volunteer your time for a deserving activity. Go caching!
02/09/2010 at 4:26 pm #1921764Quit harrassing people into living their lives the way you think they should be led!
Oh, sorry, that was another thread… 😈
In all seriousness, I would use this in a heartbeat if it were available for our phone model.
The reason? We run (duh). And we have talked about the fact that when I am 15 miles away from home it would be nice to see if I am in fact still moving or have gotten in trouble. Because while Marc might not miss me I have been assured by my wife that she would, and I guess I give her priority.
So, I keep my phone set to emergency-locate capable, and would be happy to add a feature like this. And I’m guessing when the kids learn to drive it might come in handy, though I’m probably glad they didn’t have it when I was 16… 😯
On the Left Side of the Road...02/09/2010 at 6:38 pm #1921765I do a bunch of caching alone, and this could be very handy. Thanks for pointing me to it!

Actually this just is a location service that is sent from your smart phone automatically. Nothing about what I am eating or what I am doing. I think this tool will be helpful for your family while out caching.

What phone model do you use? This works best with a phone running the Android OS.
02/10/2010 at 1:20 pm #1921767I tried this several months ago and it was disappointing. Because of this thread I tried it again (iPhone) and it seems to work pretty well. My biggest problem now is finding someone who cares where I am *snif*
😉
02/10/2010 at 6:08 pm #1921768Oh, I’m sure someone cares JT.
I don’t, but there has to be someone… 🙂
This is my thought on Facebook and the like also. I really can’t bring myself to believe that anyone cares about my eating habits or TV viewing preferences.
