Just 2 weekends away from the 3 For 3 – Appleton CITO 2009 event and I wanted to put in a quick plug here to spread the word.
Last years event was a huge success in one of Appleton’s dirtiest and most urban parks. The city’s park and rec manger could not say enough about how superbly we cleaned Jones Park and is looking forward to our efforts this year. But, we’re taking on three parks and while they are probably not as littered, there is far more ground to cover, and we are going to need as much participation as we can get.
A couple of things to consider:
1. I posted a list of all the caches in these 3 parks and there are many of you who have not gotten a portion of these and probably had no idea there were so many hidden in this relatively small area. If you come to the CITO and show some proof that you’ve attempted to solve these puzzles, I will make sure you don’t walk away empty-handed.
2. I sent a press release to the local news stations in hopes that we could get a little news story out of it. With the bad PR we’ve gotten from the Allouez incident we can use some good PR. The more people that show up, the better we look and the greater the impact we have in the media.
Lets really make a considerable impact this year, even bigger then the last.

04/01/2009 at 11:06 pm #1904788Holy buckets, it’s April already!
Please come out and help if you can. We would love to get more people out than last year and make a huge dent in the 3 parks we are targeting. These are some of the neatest parks in Appleton. I did not grow up in Appleton, but I LOVED visiting Pierce park throughout my childhood.
Why not volunteer to do something good just because it’s good. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the bustle and hustle of our daily lives and not take the time every once and awhile to help out our neighbors and volunteer to do something. There’s enough stress and bad feelings and bad publicity (as s|s mentioned) in all of our lives.
You won’t regret coming and I guarantee that if you’ve helped out at a CITO event in the past you agree with that statement.
Hope to see you there!

04/03/2009 at 3:15 pm #1904789Would love to come… seeing if I can work it out.
04/03/2009 at 8:10 pm #1904790Ummm… well, I tried 😉 Wish I could come. Apparently I have other plans that day.. if you catch my drift.
04/03/2009 at 8:38 pm #1904791Try contacting some of the local high schools. Some require service hours in order to graduate.

Now that is funny… Don’t you love how “we” have plans, ALL THE TIME. 😆
Understood…
04/10/2009 at 8:16 pm #1904793Just over a week away!!!!

There will be Brats! Mmmmm Brats… They’re calling you….
04/11/2009 at 12:11 am #1904794Remember if you have kids in Scouting this can be a good public service activity for them to do as well, for badges or otherwise.

04/16/2009 at 5:32 pm #1904796Bump.
mmmm… Brats…
04/16/2009 at 7:21 pm #1904797Well, we know it will be a quiet caching day in Appleton Saturday because all the activity will be at the CITO! Because after all, if you have the time to get out caching, you have the time to get out to the CITO first…right?!
On the Left Side of the Road...04/16/2009 at 9:26 pm #1904798That’s our plan…..CITO, then caching, although probably finding the caches in the park we’re cleaning will figure in there somwhere. If you tell Trekkin’ it’s a competition to gather trash, I can guarantee he’ll find tons of it! 😉
04/16/2009 at 9:38 pm #1904799If only I could find a spot to squeeze one more cache in there somewhere…. hmmm, I have an idea…
04/16/2009 at 10:48 pm #1904800Wish we could come but the wife wont be getting off work until 10:00am, and by the time we get up to Appleton from down here in Sheboygan you guys will all be done. 🙁
