I don’t think so. Mr. Condella has been as swept up by geocaching as we all were in the beginning, and just wants to share his excitement with others. Looks as though this cache is based on one he did in Arizona (placed for a geocaching segment on a local news channel). From reading some of his cache logs, you can tell he’s enthusiastic about the whole thing. He has met a few geocachers as well, and thinks we’re all great people (perhaps you’ll see him at an event in the future!)
I think it’s a great idea. Might go looking for the cache this weekend.

There are no shortcuts to any place worth going04/07/2006 at 3:33 am #1738959I wonder if it was actually taped on March 12th. That’s the day that Puck Stop posted the DNF for Teaching Vista. If that was the case, the cache was actually missing that day, and not replaced until March 13th. He found the other two caches in the nature center that day.
04/07/2006 at 12:42 pm #1738960Found out about this cache from Whitnallgps. Thanks Jeremy for your optimism. But everyone knows that I am a numbers cacher, so… Actually, I stopped out this morning in the driving rain, dark and fog. Gee that was fun. Could hardly see 10′ in front of my face. Grabbed a photo and Schlitz pass. Left my favorite pillsbury doughboy plush toy and two starter decks of neopet trading cards.
Now back to my regular scheduled geocaching.
Uncle_Fun04/07/2006 at 3:54 pm #1738961I sent an email to Mr. Condella thanking him for the exposure to this fun hobby/sport/recreation. I noted his enthusiasm and left him with some things to consider. It appears we’ll be hearing more from him. Stay tuned…
“Hi John,
I recognize your screen name from geocaching.com!
Thanks for participating in the first Fox 6 cache, and for your enthusiasm. Thanks for the tip about CITO….I’ll pass that along to our viewers. Also, very good point about the ammo box. I will tell Jim Hyatt at Schlitz to make sure he covers up the letters on the box for next month’s cache.Yes, I am definitely hooked on geocaching!
From all of us at Fox 6, thanks for watching.

Fox 6 Weather”04/07/2006 at 4:32 pm #1738962We will be seeing more of the story very soon. If you have found the cache or will be this weekend, be sure to send in your photos!
“Hi Renee,
We didn’t list the Fox 6 cache with geocaching.com simply because we wanted to keep it exclusive to Fox 6 viewers. Also, Jim Hyatt at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center didn’t realize it was so close to another cache. Next time we’ll make sure there is enough distance between caches.
I’ll be showing the photos of your FTF during my weather segment on the 9pm news this Sunday evening, April 9, if that is okay with you.
Thanks.

Fox 6 Weather “04/10/2006 at 6:37 pm #1738963JD and I, along with our friend Paul found the Fox 6 cache. We took a photo and e-mailed it and a short note to the Channel 6. I got a reply and our photo is going to be on the news at 9:45pm on 4/10. It seems like there is going to be a mention of caching and photos almost every night. Good press eh?
