I am looking for help on a question. I noticed that a cache has been archived. This was because the last 7 or so people looking for it couldn’t find it. I was wondering if someone could adopt an archived cache? If yes, how would I go about doing it?

Although you could perform a “cache adoption”, if the cache is already archived, it is probably just easier to place and submit your own cach in its place. You can even call it the same thing if you want.

The “cache adoption” process can take quite a while, because a reasonable attempt to contact the original owner has to be made, and that often can drag out for a long time, often more than 1 month.

If you have specific questions regarding this, feel free to contact me at: wga2-admin at wi-geocaching dot com.

Agree with Tie about just placing a new cache … two reasons:

    (1) It’s just not as fun to watch a cache that was not your idea to start with.

    (2) Replacing it with a brand new caches opens the flood gates of people to find a new cache, rather than excluding all the people that found the current “uncared for” cache.

Well since the site has been archived and disabled I am thinking about a new cache there. I will look at the site this weekend (I hope) and decide then. I just have to figure out how to use the placement form then.

You better learn how to use the placement form … that’s what we’re all waiting for you to do! Hurry, hurry, hurry!
