What would be the reason for a virtual being archived when there is nothing to maintain? GCB093
01/18/2013 at 4:24 am #19674171. The item that the virtual was highlighting has been moved or is gone
2. The question(s) one must answer can no longer be answered, most likely because of point #1 listed above
3. The area is now off limits/not accessible
4. The CO no longer wishes to receive emails regarding the virtual cache01/18/2013 at 4:27 am #1967418I believe it is that the CO is no longer a “validated member” and the email address necessary for sending the answer to the virtual’s question is not validated.
If the answers can not be verified, the conditions of the cache are violated. Unfortunately, the CO is an unknown these days and there is no way to contact for possible adoption. Therefore, archiving is the only way to handle the situation.
I am sure that archiving is not the reviewers first choice but has no additional options available.Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.

01/18/2013 at 4:53 am #1967420Thanks … that explains it very well. Didn’t think about the email part.
01/18/2013 at 2:15 pm #1967421Owners of virtuals and EarthCaches are responsible for maintaining the integrity of their caches by monitoring and deleting any bogus finds (heard of armchair logging on virts? 😉 ) The CO of this cache wasn’t even in the game long enough to validate his/her account.
The good news here is that there is another cache now in place that brings cachers to this meaningful spot: GC43GKR It’s not a virtual, so forget that icon, but for those who remember spending quite a bit of time searching for the answer to the question posed in the virtual, you will be glad to know that this new puzzle cache provides a “road map” of where to find the necessary answers.
Oh, yeah. And the COs of the new cache are very active and still involved in the game. 😉
01/18/2013 at 2:56 pm #1967422I’m trying to figure out how some cachers “signed the log” on that one in November…. 🙄
On the Left Side of the Road...01/18/2013 at 2:58 pm #1967423With virtual ink. Duh.
01/18/2013 at 3:57 pm #1967424past logs indicate the CO’s email was disabled sometime in 2009. Guess something caught the reviewer attention recently.

I signed with “virtual ink”, but can provide the required info if needed. No armchair logging for me although it would have been easy for this one.
01/19/2013 at 10:56 pm #1967426The cache in question was our first virtual, way back in 2005, and I believe even at that time our email bounced back or was unable to be sent due to an unverified address. I am sorry to see it go, like any virtual. We’ll go check out the new puzzle though!
