Well of course. Continuing my bad luck in this venture, I have to place Mudd Varner in jail in about 20 minutes, and the caching place website is barely functional right now! Weird overlapped huge letter page that takes forever to load, if at all, or maybe one of those wonderful “page not found” messages if that gets too old.
I may just call it quits right now. It’s becoming more frustrating than fun.
06/23/2007 at 3:30 am #1875030Two nights in a row? I think this really IS a message to just quit now, LOL. But I only have two to go!
I suppose lots of people are trying to arrest their outlaws in the evenings and it makes the site crash or something. Has anyone else encountered this while playing?
06/25/2007 at 8:41 pm #1875031Trying to figure out my last location and possibly the requirement for it, since I can’t get any car ones close by.
It looks like I’m in a canyon or something just east of the big bowknot bend in the Green River. Off of Hatch Point Road, and I see a crossed off location with “Hatch Point” in the name. I am stumped trying to figure it out. Does this sound familiar to anyone? If so, what was the requirement for it?
I’m too chicken to just go on a chase and take my chances now, since it’s the last one I have to make! TIA
06/25/2007 at 8:51 pm #1875032It is too hot for comfortable geocaching this afternoon, I’m taking a break from a puzzle and decided to see if any of the top 20 finishers had used any catch-all new caches published after the Quest started. Although it probably belongs in thread stealers it is only interesting to people tracking elusive cache title so here is a partial list by state
Utah
GC13B4J Dog Gone Worst Troubled Apple for Muddy Hot Wheels
GC1397N Jasper Swamp Worst Menace Jeep Dog Goat
New York
GC136Z4 Jim Apple Goated by Worst Trouble with Micros
GC139QT Angelic or Aggravating? You Decide by No Jeep in Sight
GC139QH The Apple of our Eye…a Dog Cache
Pennsylvannia
GC13E9Y My Goat Jasper likes Apples and Jeeps
Maryland
GC13KPX Apple Flavored Hot Wheels Really Get My Goat
Texas
GC138AW Outlaws III Best Tricky Jeep Angel in a Mask
GC13AAA A Boy Named James and His Dog but No Goat
There were more but this is enough for a chuckle about cache naming.06/25/2007 at 10:47 pm #1875033@Trekkin’ and Birdin’ wrote:

Just take your chances. The location requirements are usually easier then cache requirement. I did 4-5 with location requirement.
That . . . or PM me all the locations you have used to date (if you kept track) and I will tell you what the last location requirement will be.
06/26/2007 at 12:18 am #1875034I got some help from Lostby on this one, and it’s one where the location isn’t all that much easier than the cache itself. But fortunately, I did take a photo of one of the works of art that was a truck in a former life at Dr. Evermor’s. Two weeks ago.
Did I ever get a nasty vehicle penalty though, LOL.
After this, I have to hope I can decode all this stuff and pinpoint the hideout. Almost there!

You will get the key to the 10 petroglyphs with the final map piece so no problem there 😉

You can use the TAB key to skip to elements on a web page. The FF is an element. When you TAB around the page eventually the “SWEET SPOT” will highlight.
That hint was really super-helpful! I found the spot in about 10 seconds. Finally got my second FF behind me, and got all the caching done. Just have to put everyone in jail now and see where I fall in the rankings.

They said in the forums that you can contact them about the time you were penalized because the server was having issues and they’ll take it off.

It is a very cool coin…..
07/14/2007 at 12:58 am #1875039Did you realize the little froggie on the finishers coin glows?
Well, the quest is officially over, though people can still complete it at any time. It’s just that the leader board is set and will not change. I think the WI contingent did quite well with pharmteam coming in nearest the top at #16 – woohoo!
Congrats also to Trekkin and Birdin as well as – oh yeah – me 😯 for winning a prize in the random drawing. I have no idea what the prizes are yet. Geez, I never win anything so this is a strange feeling.

Will be interesting…..congrats!
07/14/2007 at 4:50 am #1875041Congrats to all who finished the quest, to pharmteam’s high finish, and to those fortunate enough to win a prize in the raffle!
It’s good to see Trekkin and Birdin win a prize after all their troubles on the quest. Now they just need to recover the loot to close out their Quest.
I think the WI contingent did a bang up job and we didn’t have to resort to placing a bunch of “catch all” caches out there like we saw pop up around the country.
I got a kick out of some of your Johnny Waypoint “stars.” Some looked like respectable stars and some looked like they were completed with the assistance of Jack Daniels.
I can’t wait to see what kind of idea they come up with for the next Quest!
Great job posse!!
07/14/2007 at 4:53 am #1875042BTW…I never had any connectivity issues. I have Road Runner digital high speed and I didn’t notice any slow-downs or access issues.
07/14/2007 at 7:35 pm #1875043There was one weekend that their host server was having significant issues which had nothing to do with site volume or anything. Unfortunately, that was the time T&B and others were trying to put someone in jail.
Yep, the stars were fun. Mine turned out pretty good when you consider that I did it in a field that conatined large random patches of thistles. And I was wearing shorts.
I need to stop wearing shorts when I geocache.
