I DNF’d Four reqs this morning! This so sucks…….
I think we all need to place a micro cache called “Going to a Dog Park: Angel Jasper’s Mighty Double Trouble Jeep Puzzle cache.”05/26/2007 at 5:53 pm #1874912If anyone needs one for the outlaw who likes mud, there are two in the LaCrosse area that would work. Unfortunately, we got both of them last week!
GC1294M “Swampy”
GC11FHX “Old Stinky”
There is also one in the area that would work for the dog one.
GC11XXA “doggie day” placed near the Coulee Humane Society.
If you want to do one that needs to be a hike, go to ours! 😀
GC126RC “Coulee Birding Series-Lesson 1”
Lesson 2 will soon go live, and that one’s a hike, too, if you already got this one.As for the James bit, my brother-in-law, Mr. Timberline Echoes, is named “James” and he’s placed a mess of caches up north. Do you think they could be convinced to revert to their real names? 🙄
We’re planning a canoe one on Monday anyway, so that should work for one of these guys. A couple we’re hoping to do tomorrow are jeep trails, or at least the description mentions being able to jeep up. Hope one of those will work.
A question about the puzzle ones. We’ve done all the puzzles around here already. However, there are two that are listed as multis, but really, they’re puzzles to solve. Here’s one of them.
GC117D6 “geo scrabble”
Do you all think these will fit the category?05/26/2007 at 7:37 pm #1874913Here’s a great one I found for Terminator Sam:
Little Monkey’s Little Car Exchange (GC10CWV)
It’s down in Janesville.
And for Angel, I was thinking maybe this one would work:
And for Kim Worst:
It has the correct initials in the GC# – and in the right order too!
05/27/2007 at 12:56 am #1874914I was able to capture 4 of the outlaws during a four hour caching trip up to the Menominee Falls area this afternoon. I missed out on Nopar King because of a missing GC and because another cache only had a permanent GC that I couldn’t grab and move.
I only headed out to find The Peanut Gang and just happened to run across the others on my journey. My wife picked The Peanut Gang, my 3 year old daughter picked the chase vehicle, and I did the grunt work. Unfortunately, my youngest deputy chose the wrong chase vehicle and I was hit with a HUGE 9 hour penalty. I can’t log The Peanut Gang into jail until 9:21am tomorrow and I will start out with a 24 hour capture as my first. I don’t think that will make the leader board! Take the extra time to research the hideout location posted in the dossier to avoid penalties.
1) I found The Peanut Gang at River Rat (GCPH1R). It is in the Granville Dog Park and the cache description mentions that “dogs are welcome.” According to my read, that is all ya need to qualify this cache for The Peanut Gang.
2) I ran across Three Fingers Jack at WSQ Kuhburg Haven (GCQ59C) so don’t look for him here since you can only find him in caches that have not been found within the 30 days before 5/25.
3) I discovered Jasper James at Auntie_Fun Willowood Park (GCW5WE). I couldn’t find anything with James or Jasper in it, so I resorted to the alternate “double letter” option. “A cache will also qualify if there are any double letters in the GC number. Example: JJ, LL, MM. They do not have to be consecutive. (GG or CC will not count…).” I think the WW in the GC number is good enough to take credit for the capture on Jasper.
4) I found Treacherous Tommy The Trickster at the cache pair of Anty Up (GCQ5GB) and Trinity Tannebaum (GCQ5AY). These caches are both in the same park. Ones cache description mentions the “historical” significance of the park and it’s buildings and the other mentions the “museum” near the cache. Together you get “historical museum.”
I hope this qualifies for Tommy?? What do you think? If not, I’ve got a few solved puzzles sitting around.
Lets round up these desperado’s!!!
05/27/2007 at 1:27 am #1874915BTW, my read of the rules and FAQ’s is that you can’t claim multiple captures on one cache and each capture has to be at a cache you have not already found.
As soon as your log one of the gang into jail under one GC#, that number is no longer new and/or unique. Therefore, you would not be able to claim any other gang members as being captured at that same cache.
What are your reads on this?

My read of the rules is that you can only claim one capture at a cache. Once you log a capture; that cache is no longer new and unique as a new find and you can’t then log another capture under that same GC#. Is this the correct read? Our State forum seems to indicate some of the local cachers are under the impression they could log every fugitive into jail after finding only one cache if they could only find the magic cache with just the right combination of title, cache description, and GC#.
I feel that the story line precluded the possibility of finding more than one fugitive at any one cache. Additionally, I feel it would violate the spirit of the Quest if not the rules.
Thanks.

Now, this one’s easy. One cache per outlaw. Once you use it, you can not use it for another outlaw. That cache must also be a cache that you’ve never found before — no refinds allowed.By the time you finish this quest, you will have had to find 16 caches that you’ve never found before.
05/27/2007 at 2:55 am #1874917Can you explain about finding several of them on a caching run? We did one today and I can throw him in jail tomorrow morning. I picked the right vehicle and learned a few new tricks with online maps in the process.
Pretty cool! Can I click on more than one outlaw if I figure I’m going to be doing, say, three different caches that meet the requirement for three different outlaws? We’re heading up to Black River tomorrow and hoping to get about a dozen finds. One of those must be something I could use!
05/27/2007 at 3:50 am #1874918According to the rules. You don’t need to find the outlaws in any particular order but you may only log them in the order in which you select them and you may only log them after the timer is up. You can only view one outlaw at a time and you are not able to view any outlaw’s hideout coords while you are on another mission. Once you select a vehicle, you are locked into that mission.
If you are in a cache rich area, you may be able to find individual caches for each of the outlaws. The rules and FAQ’s of the Outlaw Quest explain that you can use any cache (by any, I mean one that meets the criteria set forth in the cache requirements) found after the official start time even if you had not yet joined the game when you found the cache.
So you can find all of them in one day, but not at one cache. You can only log them into the Quest Forum one at a time and only after the timer for each mission says to log them.
You might want to read through the Outlaw Quest forum and FAQ’s. They explain it in detail and you’d be getting the info directly from the Sheriff and Deputy.
05/27/2007 at 4:50 am #1874919Thanks for the info. I did read the FAQ and was on the forums, but I guess my brain just wasn’t grasping it or something.
05/27/2007 at 12:22 pm #1874920The cache title I proposed was so that if someone was missing ONE of the req’s then they could get ONE cache that had all the reqs listed in the title to fit whatever ONE they were missing.
ALso…it was a joke.05/27/2007 at 1:42 pm #1874921I liked your cache title, Lostby!
We brought in our first outlaw this morning, Three Fingered Jack. Went and found this cache, GCN9ZR which has been on our list of those to find for a while. I’ll tell you, sitting there waiting to lock ’em up is like watching the final minutes of an ebay auction!
I think today we’ll seek out Billy Goatee and then the Peanut Gang.
Look up “logging rr trail” and “Motley RIP.” We’re going to see if we can do a serious caching day like the big boys. Several of these are those hikes in the BRF area to old towers and stuff. Hopefully we won’t report in from the ER!05/27/2007 at 1:47 pm #1874922I found 34 this weekend and DNF’d almost every cache that I could use for the hunt ! I think I might place a cache with the title I mentioned…and perhaps add a few more words as well and make it a micro puzzle cache. In fact I already know the spot…stay tuned.

Ouch! 🙁

Will that micro be a “Menace” or “Trouble”? I could use one of those.
I remember somebody hosted an event cache during the first quest that fulfilled just about every requirement. So anybody who was missing something could go and pick up that requirement.
