It’s not like you are playing for money. Bragging rights is all.

Our league is a FUN league. Nobody cares who wins except when the opponent is the “Vegas Gamblers!” VG is all SMACK. If you want to have fun then this is the league for you. If you are a “serious” player you may want to stay away.

The only one I look forward to shutin’ up is Mouthman, I mean Mathman. Cheesy’s team was ok because he was the commish and was snatching guys from the inactive players while no one was lookin’. And VG was handed a gimme team from the get go. My dead grandma could have won with that team.

LOL! Ohhh…..wait! I never used the my Commish powers, well except for once, when I benched all of Mathmans players.

May your grandma rest in peace. I was handed a gimme team? I think I drafted seventh last year. As for the mouthman, it will be fun again this year. If I lose, so be it, I won the inaugural season and you can’t take that away from me, even if it was all skill 😆

Bragging rights are perfectly acceptable stakes. People bragging about their autodrafted team without any trades going on, frankly, has nothing to do with fantasy football. 3 out of 10 teams who didn’t show beyond week 5 confirms that analysis. It was apparently a lot of fun for the 3 or 4 people who are regularly talking smack on the topic, which is always fun.

I tried to suggest a method to make it more intense and fun for the handful of teams that really wanted to play that could actually make the draft and subsequent season count for something other than blind luck and reading the Yahoo! rating on Marquez Colston in week 3 a couple years ago, but got nothing but defensiveness in reply. 10 teams vs 12 teams doesn’t change that significantly with your league rules. If you go to 14 teams, it’s a different story. That’s okay, too. It’s your game.

Bottom line is, I like a fantasy football game that yes, involves smack, but involves a handful of intelligent draft picking (and good GOD don’t try to tell me that setting your draft order constitutes anything…if you knew how Yahoo picks, regardless of your rankings, you’d cry if you care about the game). I tried to propose a couple suggestions to add some skill to the game, and tried to warn about what can be a real issue with autodraft deadlines and nobody seemed to care about either. Again, it’s your game and it’s all good.

I’ve chosen not to play this one though and have removed my team. It’s fun looking at the smack here and the smack talk is a lot more fun than other leagues I’m in, but it’s essentially pointless because essentially it’s a “draft and pray” league that doesn’t even let you draft.

Y’all said it was fun, and I’m assuming the 3 people who say that are speaking for the other 4 who played past week 5, but I’m not interested in talking smack about a dice roll. Seems kind of hollow to me. You’ll need to find a 12th.

I love to have a fun league, but nothing is more irritating than people bragging about that over which they have no input or control over. Might as well spend a half year bragging about winning bar dice, which most of us only brag about for a half hour or so. Think of it…it’s like 5-card draw where everyone has to lay their hand on the table. You get the luck of the draw and you’re done.

Well obviously this league is below your needs. Thats fine, let it go. We had fun last year and will again this year. As for you relating our league to bar dice and such is wrong. This is not a full “draft who you can” league but you still have to input the players that you feel will do their best that week. It is fun for us, now go play with the big boys if you want.

I say this because I am the Defending Champion of this league from last year and I am proud of that fact no matter how lame you feel this league is.

I did let it go, but I got chastised for every suggestion I made that might make it more based on skill than luck. With all the smack talk, I thought that the people involved would like to have some basis for talking smack.

There is no fantasy league that is above or beneath anyone. However, you made the perfect comment yourself in your attack on me–you’re speaking as the one who gets to talk smack to everyone else based on the setup you got handed to you. Hey, if you have to choose between playing Brady or Grossman and you pick right because you have both on your roster…uhhhh…grats?

If you think I deleted my team because this league was beneath me, you’re wrong. I deleted my team because I’ve seen the history and I don’t care to be talked down to by someone who had nothing to do with building the platform they’re looking down from. Smack talk is part of the game. Smack talk when all you have to do is pick your starters from your lot as the result of a dice roll (sorry if you don’t like the analogy, but that’s what it is when you autodraft…..again, sorry) is empty and sad.

Do you even know how Yahoo drafts? You have to get to your 90th priority pick at least before your “rankings” matter. Why? Because Yahoo will complete your starting lineup before you even get to pick a 3rd running back, a 2nd QB or a 3rd WR. Hell, yeah, picking Felix Jones in the 12th round looks BRILLIANT until you know what happened for real.

Hey, I have to pull the string on the Brady/Grossman choice. I push the buttons. 😆 Last year I did a great job at that, but the pressure of a bye week really makes me sweat for the week prior. 😯 I do understand your dislike for the auto draft and this was put together for fun with the people here that do not even know each other. I do not know you, I should not have “attacked” you for your statements.

Whoo! Hold up there boys!! It’s just a freekin game! If Ry Ny doesn’t wan to play that fine. Like I said from the begining, it’s all for fun. As for suggestions, there were good but that’s not thy type of league I wanted.

If we were playing for money, ya, then a live draft is the way to go. Other than Zuma and PW, I have never meet any of the other players, but I like to think I now have a friendship with the rest. It is like poker. You have to play the hand you were given. Have to find the sleeper free agents and pick who to start. ALso comes down to draft postion. I would rather have the 5th or later round than the 1st.

If VG and The Mouth(man) want to yap, great!

It still a silly little game were over payed guys follow a ball around, that the out come of the game will not change my life one bit. Just like looking for ammo cans and platic jars. People put a lot of time, money and effort in to something that pretty silly also. In the end, what does one get out of it??? To each one, I’m sure it’s a little bit different, but well must get something out of it we are still lookin’ & hidin’.

C’mon. People are talking about skill being involved on who to start? My 16 year old daughter who can name you the entire cast of Naruto and Dragonball Z but doesn’t know which team Brett Favre plays for today can pick starters out of a lineup they’ve been handed.

Hey, it’s your game, but don’t sit there and defend it like it’s a real live game and don’t get all full of yourself because you were literate enough to see the initials to drop Payton over Eli in your starting roster. To try to defend the “skill” in picking a starting lineup in an autodraft is akin to saying “whatever” in any other topic. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt baby.

Just like geocaching. If you’re saying everyone plays it the way they want to play it, don’t call it a sport, and if it ain’t a sport, bragging about doing it better than the other guy just makes you look silly. Either make it a sport or make it a pastime. One takes skill and gives you reason to talk smack, the other is what you listen to on the porch swing on the radio with a glass of lemonade and has just bout as much active involvement and bragging rights as listening on the porch swing.

And poker’s a perfect example….if you’re playing 12 rounds with the same 7 card hand. It doesn’t involve any skill to lose the other two cards and lay the royal flush down if that’s the hand you’ve been dealt. But again, if that’s the “game” you want, then play it. I just said I didn’t want to play that game and offered up the perfectly valid comment that it’s pretty empty to brag about tossing out the 3’s and 4’s to keep the royal flush flop after flop.

Your results may vary and they obviously do, but please don’t patronize me by saying that choosing a starting lineup week after week is an exercise in skill.
