Not sure how many here enjoy making artsy things. I have created two altered books to remember some of our geocaching adventures. If you would like to peek at a sampling of the books check out my blog.

Mrs. TE02/10/2009 at 6:38 pm #1902035What a neat and interesting hobby! I like to use polymer clay, and paint occasionally. I’ve been trying to come up with some sort of sig item made of poly, but my name doesn’t readily lend itself to anything.
Thanks for sharing these great pieces with us! I think the geocaching one if my favorite, but I may be bias. 🙂
02/10/2009 at 8:17 pm #1902036Very nice Mrs. TE.
I like the paper quilts too, but can’t shake the image of you beating flowers into submission with a hammer. 🙂

02/10/2009 at 8:22 pm #1902038You could create something using your 1515 and add the letters M E or your intials or change your name before it is too late. LOL! 😆
Thanks for looking.
TE02/10/2009 at 11:51 pm #1902039What a fantastic idea. I love the recycling of the books too. I’ll have to keep my eye out for books. give it a whirl maybe with some of my students. Thanks for sharing!
02/11/2009 at 1:14 am #1902040Interesting! Is an altered book kind of like scrapbooking, only reusing books instead of paper that is inserted into scrapbooks? I started scrapbooking a couple years ago and enjoy it, but it can be expensive. With my basic GPSr, computer access, and gas in the car, geocaching is something I can afford to do more often. Thanks for sharing your crafty ideas!
02/11/2009 at 8:55 pm #1902041I don’t think of it as scrapbooking because I rarely use photos in it. To me it is a type of recycling as I give life to books that are usually headed to the land fill. I also like that there are no rules. Most of the books have some kind of theme so the media used is unlimited. I have taught it several times with kids and they love it. Even totally non-artsy ones. Boys and girls love to do them on sports, hunting, ATving etc. I put up a new one about techniques today. Also add a geo-treasure thing I made out of a coin holder. It holds loads of pins we have traded out from caches and our meager coin collection.
Enjoy
02/17/2009 at 1:44 pm #1902042TBC I added two more flower quilts in which I “Thwacked” those poor little flowers into submission. I thought you would enjoy their beauty.

Bad flower. BAD flower!
Thanks Mrs. TE.

No wonder she is always calm and relaxed when I see her…
Very pretty, I’m not going to show these to my wife though, I’d have to add on to the house for another hobby.
