If you get a chance, take a look at the new edition of Wisconsin Natural Resources Magazine. They have an article on Geocaching in Wisconsin as well as some pictures of some familiar faces. Where exactly was that picture of Justin taken anyway??

Now what did I get myself into????

They did a nice job highlighting the many uses of the GPSr. I noticed a few surprises, namely that the made a mention of caches in SNA’s. Lots of cacher pictures though.

Did I get credit for taking the picture? Cato-Car Crash.

Recieved ours in the mail and enjoyed the article. Was wondering how the number of WI cachers was arrived at. Does anyone know how SCORP came up with 83,000 participants?

Was there a pic of Cato Car Crash Cache in the print version? That’s my cache. If so I need to scare up a copy.

I just received 2 complementary copies of the magazine today, and indeed it has a photo that I submitted for publication of Cato Car Crash. There are a lot more photos in the print version than the online article, but unfortunately they don’t identify cachers by their geocaching name. The photo I sent in includes ks9wi, me, and k0rpl. Because he wasn’t credited, Rsplash40 took the picture. Nice article, I learned a few things.

Thanks frizz! I like to be behind the scenes mostly, making sure stuff runs but it is nice to get a little spot light now and again :>

If anybody has a spare copy of the mag, I would like to get one….

Oops, should have put this here.

I got my issues of the Mag last night, and although my contribution was not as grandiose as I though it would be (I got the 1 1/2 X 2″ index photo 🙂 ), it was still really cool, and the article was great. Star Wars Guy got an awesome full 2 page layout of him and his children at Match Head, as the intro to the article.

The only thing I read in the article that didn’t make any sense was reading that they estimated over 80,000 cachers in WI. That’s got to be wrong, and I’m wondering if they meant that there are 80,000 GPS users in WI, not all of them being goeocachers.

All in all a good article for Geocaching and GPSrs for that matter.

    But a couple things I didn’t understand … maybe they’re typos:

    (a) It states there are 82,000 geocachers in Wisconsin (or maybe it estimates so by 2010) … that seems really high!

    (b) The article speaks of downloading maps to a CD, the loading them from the CD to your GPSr … maybe I’m behind the times, but since when to GPSrs have CD drives on them. I think they meant Computer instead of CD?

as for b), I was wondering the same. I think they were speaking of NAV systems in cars. Although most of those are DVD based.
