    Is this a joke ^

Yay got my day 4 little bird house.

Bummer though, the log was drenched in wet ink. It looked like some one rolled up the log then opened up the end of a pen and dumped ink down into the middle of it. It got all over my finders 🙁

I earned my 5 souvenir before 7 AM! Now that’s a productive day.

    What do you think?

It is Gotta Run’s way of saying he thinks souvenirs are stupid too. And I agree. No point to them.

day 4 souvenir looks kinda like S|S coin submission some time back but that was a bison tube (supposed to be a bison tube) hanging and not a birdhouse.

    I remember that one. 😳

I don’t understand the point of souvenirs. At all.

Geocaching is supposed to be a “high tech treasure hunt.” You know, get outside and do stuff. See new places. Meet people. Whatever. Souvenirs are completely online, electronic thingamabobs. Worthless. Yes, your find count is maintained online but it represents something in the real world.

A souvenir that tells me I found a cache on Wednesday, or in Wisconsin, or on National Bacon Day–I already know that. Or are people out there showing their souvenir pages on their smartphones to fellow cachers, like proud grandparents pulling out a binder full of baby pictures? I honestly can’t recall the last time I looked at my souvenir page.

They’re just really dumb. Perhaps the dumbest idea ever in the history of dumb geocaching ideas. And before anyone flames me with “if you don’t like them, don’t do them,” just remember I’m not the one who asked the question, just responding to it.

I may break down and cache on Saturday. I just won’t log them for a while. There has to be a time limit on when I have to log a cache in order to get a souvenir.

I’ll take notes on each cache so I can still remember what I did.

You could post notes and then just change them to found in a few weeks/months.

Got the moon and stars today, but then I got to thinking that we should have done a night cache to match the souvenir. Ammo can for the first day, do a cache on a bike trail for tomorrow… Could make things more interesting…

They are dumb, but harmless. Geocaching in general is dumb, though not necessarily harmless. So far we’ve been able to get them, and when I’m bored, it can entertain me to look at them for a couple minutes. But I’m with Pat….how did I EVER manage to miss the one for National Bacon Day???? That would be worth something! 🙄

Don’t feel bad. I broke down and attended an event today. Now I have to live with the day 7 souvenir lol.
