Thank you for the nomination. I have been serving on the board for some time now and I am hoping that I am making a difference. I became a WGA Board member in 2009, served 8 years as Treasurer, then 5 years as a Member At Large, and most recently, the past 3 years as President. WGA has been a great way for me to meet people from across our state while promoting our fun activity.
Geocaching for me has been about the people and places. The people I have met and the places it has taken me to discover. I began geocaching in February 2004 after watch a friend having fun doing it. I have lost count the number of road trips, extending a day when attending a conference, the quick we have to stop so I can get a cache, experiences I have had over the years. The past few summers, I have been working on the Lincoln Highway Adventure Lab Series with my friend Lucy; we have completed from Laramie WY to VanPort, PA.
I was a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department for 31 years where I handled the Aquatics, Playground, Fitness, Enrichment, Dance, and Safety programs. I retired in May 2022. In June 2022, I created my own small business, Rescue Ready Resources. As Rescue Ready Resources, I travel to businesses, organizations, churches, Parks & Recreation Depts, Government agencies, etc. and teach CPR/AED/First Aid, Babysitters Training, Lifeguard Training, and Pet First Aid and CPR classes.
Why continue with the WGA Board? It is because I feel that I have more ideas and things to share. Geocaching keeps evolving and so must the WGA. While we always have the day-to-day activities, event planning and hosting, there are also some other projects that the BOD needs to start addressing to keep the WGA moving forward.
