Wow… just got the April “Backpacker” in the mail today. A complete guide to GPS is included as well as GPS coordinates linked to hiking trails, camping spots, etc… all featured in the magazine. They also have a new site dedicated to GPS: http://www.backpacker.com/gps. Good stuff….!!!!!!

Also a great primer on UTM coordinate system…that’s what the magazine will be using as their standard.

Dug up this thread instead of starting a new one.

Every month, Backpacker Magazine publishes a series of trail maps from around the United States. Each map contains UTM GPS coordinates for various waypoints around the hike.

We were happy to see that this month’s issue features “Hartman Creek State Park.” They have published a 3.9 mile trail that loops around the various lakes. These trails contained the majority of the caches during the campout this year!

Good stuff… glad to see that Backpacker remains GPS friendly! A great read….
