The board has passed the following resolution, and named BadRdz as our first “Social Media Coordinator.”
***********************
Whereas part of the mission of the WGA is to “provide an opportunity for geocachers in the State of Wisconsin to gather and socialize with one another, ” and to “educate Wisconsin geocachers about the responsible use of natural resources and educate non-geocachers about the sport of geocaching.”
Be it resolved that the WGA name a “Social Media Coordinator” to develop our presence on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and other social media that may be appropriate.
Be it resolved that the position of Social Medial Coordinator report to the Web Committee for advice and guidance.
01/08/2011 at 1:11 am #1941636Congratulations to BakRdz. I’ve gotten to known Jay a bit over the last year and he’s definately well qualified for this role. I’m definately looking forward to seeing this latest web development move forward.
01/08/2011 at 1:15 am #1941637Sounds like a good move to me. BakRdz is a “social” and “with-it” kind of guy and will do an excellent job. (Just don’t let him give Flat Jack any role in this new gig!)

01/08/2011 at 2:42 am #1941639Congrats Jay!
I can’t wait to see posts from the WGA hitting my Facebook page. I think this will definitely broaden our capabilities for advertising events and publishing group success stories such as CITO event results, new programs, etc. I think it will also help us reach out to the geocaching community as a whole rather than just the membership.
I’ve also seen a sneak preview screen shot of shiny new things in store once the WGA site is moved and updated that show signs of better integration with social media sites.

For those of you on Twitter and Facebook, watch for more to come.01/08/2011 at 3:34 am #1941641Congratulations, Jay! Look forward to seeing you all on FaceSpace 😆
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
01/08/2011 at 4:04 am #1941642Jay? Sociable?
Good luck in your endeavor, sir! 😀
01/09/2011 at 2:15 am #1941643Thanks, it looks great! Keep up the good work!
01/09/2011 at 2:36 am #1941644Jay,
Received a message to join the WGA Facebook page, just a few days ago did a search and found the second one listed here, which one is the “official” one, and should the other be shut down if it is not associated with the WGA?

I just noticed the link at the bottom of the home page!
01/09/2011 at 3:39 am #1941647I don’t believe anyone can have their page shut down just because it isn’t the “official” representative of something.
01/09/2011 at 3:48 am #1941648I didn’t know there was any kind of a WGA FB page before I got the invite to this new one, but then I hadn’t gone looking.

I’d suggest hanging on to the FB page that has almost 2 years under it’s belt, albeit not much action, in favor of the brand new one. Someone apparently didn’t get the memo…
