Today was the second time in two weeks that I pulled batteries out of caches. DO NOT LEAVE BATTERIES IN CACHES! The alkaline ones contain potassium hydroxide, which is caustic and can cause respiratory, eye, and skin irritation. They will NOT last in caches through our seasons without leaking, so it’s best not to leave them, and if you find them in a cache, remove and dispose of them. It’s better for the environment, and better for the safety of your fellow gamers.
Down off the soapbox now. Have a nice day.
Maybe it is time to refresh the list of “Do nots” for swag, especially with all the new cachers coming into the game.
Candy
Gum
Bubble bottles (freeze and burst in winter)
fire crackers
…used toilet paper. I never want to see that in a cache.
Shotgun shells… used or not! Never! Ever!

I saw it next to a cache about an hour ago….gee and I somehow forgot to trash it out.
No Knives,
No adult reading
No Drugs
No alcohol
No propaganda (hand those religious, political, charitable or social agenda leaflets out on street corners instead).
What about stuff that advertises?

promotional items like pencils or keychains with company names are OK, coupons with no expirations are ok.
Add another battery removal this week…
Before I switched to rechargeable batteries, I welcomed the sight of 4 fresh AA’s.
Gee, and we thought we were leaving good swag when we left new packages of batteries in our newly placed caches. I guess we’ll think twice about that!
Well, we have a cache where batteries are integral to its operation; however we do check on that cache every couple of months for any possible problems. We’ve also run across other creative battery powered caches.
No matches
No Lighters
PLEASE, no used golf balls! 😆
