Trekkin’ was in the Milwaukee area last month and nailed almost half of these then, and some were not very winter friendly. We’re wondering what percentage of the series overall might be tough finds after the big storm.
I know we could probably determine our hits and work around the buried ones, or dig out those buried ones we need to get the finals. We just have decided after a couple of winters of dogged digging and ice chipping that we aren’t going to do a whole lot of that this year! 😆 Thanks.
As someone that has completed this series, I must say that finding the required caches will be quite difficult with any snow. But, it depends on the caches that you have found already. Some are more “friendly” then others. Good Luck.
The caches that I have found so far in this series I would say were not winter friendly. We ended up with about 4″ of snow at our house. Just a few miles to the east there is about an inch and a few miles to the west around a foot. At our place there was a lot of water in the snow, and it is basically ice right now. I wish I could tell you more.
I guess I would have to disagree. A few of the caches would be tough in snow, but most of them are rather winter friendly. I’m trying to think of all the hides, and of the ones I have found, the only ones that would be trouble were a very specific type of hide, of which there were about 5 of them in the series. (I’m talking about you, Jason!) If you are used to winter caching, even those should be fairly easy for you. Just bring your shovel.
I just fininshed the entire series yesterday and agree with Teem Deejay in that most are winter friendly except for the one style of hide. If I remember correctly that the one style does produce at least two hits. Only one of the boats may prove difficult in heavy snow but using geosenses should produce it.
The Waukesha hides were designed to be winter friendly ..
