Headed up the Door this weekend and I haven’t had the time to search out any caches to find yet. I’m looking for some recommendations. We’ll be mostly in the upper door, Fish Creek and Washington Island.

Any favorites you have, please post them.

Well, assuming you’re the adventurous type (i.e., not afraid of a hike), here are some of our favorites. This is a deliberately short list.

GC4C4 – Oldest in the county

Here are five of the tougher terrain ones in the county:

    GCGE6B – Absolutely must do.
    GCGE2Z – GC65AD – Good challenges
GCP0JM – Great park on the “quiet side”
    GCKDTW – Likewise.

I’m sure you’ll get many recommendations on lighthouse caches and memorable spots and such, which are also good, but if you like a bit of a challenge, these would be our top ones.

I almost got lost doing that one…and be sure you have your mosquito repellent!
Another one that I enjoyed was “So Many Memories” GC1N9PX, a 4 part multi put out in Pennisula State Park for their centennial anniversary this year.
And Peach has several easy caches on the bay side in his “Shipwrecked” series that take you on a very picturesque drive up to Death’s Door[:D]

    Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

I agree, Door County Challenge (GCGE6B) is a must-do. All 4 stages. I was proud of myself for getting to the 4th stage, especially alone. Great terrain challenge. Great scenery.

And GC4C4 Door County Cache- Oldest in the county. Just because.

I also really liked I Have Seen The Light (GCH485) because I love lighthouses. It also has a little museum.

I think I remember liking Finder’s Find (GCV0ZY), because it was a nice longer walk and you’re rewarded with an ammo can. Actually, I remember liking ALL of Door County’s caches. I don’t think you can go wrong.
