rubeeslprRest assured, I have read through all your responses and will take action to correct problems or improve the site. I plan to personally contact some of you for clarification on the problems you saw, or to respond to some of the questions or comments you have made. Hopefully, I can get these personal responses done by the end of this weekend.
Thanks again for helping!
04/06/2006 at 4:23 am #1744672Here is an executive summary of the beta test results.
I asked each of the testers to perform a series of 10 tasks (some tasks had multiple parts), and optionally perform a couple additional bonus tasks. In total, our testers attempted 262 tasks/subtasks. Of these:
[*] 233 (89%) tasks were completed without problem
[*] 24 (9%) were completed with some difficulty
[*] 5 (2%) were not be completed due to problemsI have corrected most of the problems (bugs) that led to the “not completed” tasks. I still need to address some areas that confused or caused our testers a lot of difficulty, such as uploading photos into the new photo album and submitting news articles.
I then asked the testers about their overall impressions of the new site. Of those who answered these questions (a few testers I think were in a rush to fill out the questionnaire and skipped over this section and the future section )
[*] All thought the “Ease of Use/Navigation” of the new site was Excellent or Good
[*] All thought the “Features/Functionality” provided by the new site was Excellent or Good
[*] 80% thought the “Site Layout/Graphic Design/Style” of the new site was Excellent or GoodFinally, I presented the testers with a list of future website features that I have considered in the past or that others have suggested. Testers were allowed to select up to three features they would like to see implemented soon (this year). The most requested future features were (from most votes to least votes):
[*] Cache rescue/cache maintenance system
[*] Donate button, donor list
[*] Chat
[*] Member map (showing where our members live)
[*] Listing of cache placement rules and land manager contacts on local/county basis04/06/2006 at 10:54 am #1744673jvechinski

There will be a total of 10 tasks I’d like all testers to complete, plus a couple bonus tasks. Target date for sending out the task list and questionnaire is Wednesday, March 22. I’d like to have feedback from all the testers by April 7.Oh well…
04/06/2006 at 10:55 am #1744674Thanks for all your work on this Jeremy. I’m dying to see the new site up and running.
(Could you perhaps take off your regular work, and sort of concentrate on this …….?)
04/06/2006 at 1:30 pm #1744675The jokes on you, I would have done it for free!

jvechinski Oh well…Sorry Paul, I got anxious and jumped the gun on April 7th deadline. When you get a chance, please fill out the beta test questionnaire online and I will definitely take a look at your responses. Same goes for any other tester who wants to get in some last minute comments or feedback.
