I’ve been reviewing info on hunting in Cook Co, IL, Forest Preserves – can anyone verify for me that deer hunting is not allowed in the area of Beverly (GC28)??? (Potawatomi Forest Preserve? – not sure)
I downloaded lots of info (overload) and if I’m reading it correctly only waterfowl is allowed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Great cache to do. There is urban area all around this fairly small preserve, so hunting is unlikely.
This is the oldest cache in Illinois. The hardest part is figuring out where to park.

11/25/2010 at 12:08 pm #1938932Yeah… even tho there are no signs that say NO Parking, Digital Dan and Benny7210 got busted by the DNR for parking on a dead end road and then the Ranger dude asked WHAT they were doing, figured out it was caching and Complained that there should be ANY caches in the preserve. Too bad….. it’s staying!! LOL
11/25/2010 at 12:35 pm #1938933I did this for my #300 milestone and used Google satellite imagery to locate proper parking ahead of my trip to avoid any hassles… But I had to return to the car for fresh GPSr batteries when it died 3/4 of the way to the cache, so much for preparedness…
11/25/2010 at 1:15 pm #1938934Thanks BunnyFuFu. We went and saw no hunters. There is convenient parking at the trailhead, off 72, right by the lake. It’s a lovely Forest Preserve and I wish we’d had more time while there.
11/25/2010 at 3:41 pm #1938935There is a cache in the parking lot. The cord’s are

11/26/2010 at 12:52 am #1938937I was there the same day as the_pirate_monkies & redwingrr and I just parked in the lot off 72 no problems. Didn’t see another person the entire time I was in the preserve. Nice and peaceful, just the way I like it.
