Hey All!
I am gearing up for a caching extravaganza — let’s all hope the weather behaves (well, I guess I’ll cache regardless. I actually enjoy caching in the rain.) I’m heading to the cabin in Northern WI. That will be my home base and I’ll go from there. Looks like I’ll be visiting some waterfalls Lil Otter!
What’s everyone else got planned for the holiday weekend?

05/27/2004 at 10:51 pm #1746907I’m not much of a planner, but i’d like to be in your shoes this weekend.
My planning usually ends with the decision on which direction to head. North? South? West?
East only goes a mile or so before i’m in Lake Michigan.
05/27/2004 at 10:57 pm #1746908Camping out in Iola this weekend. Probably not a whole lot of caching. There are a couple new ones that popped up over the winter that we’ll check out on the Little Wolf River.
Kicking back, watching some racing on Sunday, playing some horseshoes, swilling some brews, searing raw meat, and relaxing!!!

05/27/2004 at 11:04 pm #1746909I’m the obnoxious planning type (if I try to be spontaeneous, I usually end up hurting myself!) I’m already planning my trip to Delaware in October!
Cathunter — as several people can confirm, if you were in my shoes, you may very likely end up stuck in somewhere muddy!!!
Does anyone have any suggestions for Not-To-Miss in the Price County area? Base of operations will be just outside Phillips (on a beautiful lake with *apparently* a 6 foot muskie — I’m not setting foot in that water!!)

05/27/2004 at 11:13 pm #1746910This weekend will consist of spring cleaning and coing all the stuff I should have been doing the last several weeks. Finally, I am hoping to finish up the cache series I’ve been working on for two months now.
Keep your eyes peeled…

My favorite place in the world is a bit further north. Have to paddle to ground zero though. N46 06.710 W90 08.808

I wish I could claim the island as my own…. it belongs to an all too distant family member who has had it for 30 some years. I have been given squatters rights provided I help to keep the place up.
The lake is part of the Turtle/Flambeau Flowage. The shoreline is 80% state owned, and mostly sand beach. Loons and muskies rule the area. I took the pic last fall after Grousetail’s “Northwoods Breakfast Event Cache” in Arbor Vitae.
It truly is Heaven!05/28/2004 at 2:00 am #1746915quote:

It really is gorgeous. You’re so lucky to have a place like that!!!! That’s my father-in-law’s dream come true right there. Me, I prefer to let someone else own it and I just rent it. Hee hee.

Sounds like a fun weekend for you Bec! (What? You’re not on call??? Yee haw!!)
My niece is going to be over on Saturday. That’s all the plans I have set up so far for this weekend. I think we have rain slated for this area over the weekend, so any geocaching will be spontaneous. I usually just get up one morning and decide to go caching so if the mood hits, I’ll be out!
05/28/2004 at 2:15 am #1746917Oh, Cathunter! That looks so beautiful!! I do know the Flambeau Flowage area. There are some breathtaking spots there. I love being in Northern WI!

05/28/2004 at 2:22 am #1746918I am going highpointing and caching.
Will start tomorrow with caching in New Hampshire.
Saturday its off to the Mass. Highpoint – Mt. Greylock and a series of caches along the way. Should swing over to New York for a cache or two.
Sunday one of the tough highpoints – Rhode Island and Jerimoth Hill – tough because you can only get to it 5 days out of the year. Two caches there but many nearby.
So my weekend is my two passions – highpointing and geocaching – they really do compliment each other.05/28/2004 at 2:09 pm #1746919We will be attending our annual family reunion on West Lake Okoboji in the NW corner of Iowa. Also plan to seek out a couple of geocaches in the area, including two new webcam caches: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=135893 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=135881
05/28/2004 at 3:18 pm #1746920Jopez(daughter) and I will be hitting West Racine county this weekend.Maybe throw a little fishing in the mix.
The flooding has caused alot of problems si I thing we will stay away from the rivers. -
