Hey WGAers-
I was wondering if I could maybe get some help from the Wisconsin geocaching community. I have been formulating a concept for a “Big Cow Series” that would be a series of caches around Wisconsin highlighting the big cow statues scattered about the state. The series would consist of whatever caches are wished to be placed, though PNGs would most likely be the best route. In short, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help out and hide one (or more). Here are the big cows I have found:
Gertrude Basse the Cow- Waukesha
Antoinette- Plymouth
Chatty Belle- Neillsville
Bernice the Cow- Manitowoc
Sissie the Cow- DeForest
Bessie The Cow- Janesville
A Big Cow Series Final- I could hide this one (along with the Janesville and DeFo ones, if no one wants to take them)
Thanks to those who are willing to help. I don’t want to pressure anyone into hiding one, but I think this could be a cool series if it comes to fruition.
02/07/2015 at 10:59 pm #2035283Aw, I have fond childhood memories of driving to Wisconsin (from Colorado) and visiting Eau Claire, then driving to Waupaca and always driving past Chatty Bell in Neillsville. I have pictures of her in my baby book. I could probably be talked into hiding one in Neillsville, although if someone closer wanted to take it on I’d gladly defer to them.

02/08/2015 at 10:05 am #2035291Mr. Greenthumb and Sunshine have a cache by one in a rural Oconto County countryside location…The Utterly Fine Cache…GC3R4WG…don’t believe that the cow has a name though.

I Google Earthed it and it looks like the cache is about 300 feet to the south of the cow. I think we would be able to squeeze one in somewhere to the North without making the CO move theirs.
02/08/2015 at 2:59 pm #2035301I think I remember seeing a big cow in Plymouth. Some ice cream place there maybe?

02/08/2015 at 2:59 pm #2035302I love the idea of this series, but then of course, I probably would. I’m not sure if there are any nice big cows closer to us here. One travels around on a Kwik Trip float from time to time, but moving caches are no longer allowed!
I look forward to seeing what comes of this. Keep us posted!

02/08/2015 at 6:41 pm #2035313I don’t think it has a name but there has been a cow statue on top of Romy’s Nitingale (http://www.romysbanquethall.com/) since time out of mind. Looking at the address, there isn’t a geocache within three miles.

That looks like a pretty good cow. Consider it added to the list!
BeccaDay- Would you be on to hide the Neillsville cache? I completely understand if it is out of your “maintenance radius”.

LOL – I used to have to pull that float around the Central Wisconsin area when I worked for Kwik Trip. They had a big ice cream cone float, too. I got that one wedged under “low overpass” in Marshfield, but fortunately I was able to back it out.

Yes I can. Just let me know when you’re ready. Ooh, the possibilities for cache containers!

02/08/2015 at 9:25 pm #2035321I am very close to Romy’s. I can find a spot for that one.

03/09/2015 at 5:03 pm #2037002So when I was driving on 29 I briefly glimpsed a big cow at a Dairy in Thorp.
So where are we on the series? I drove past Chatty Belle on Saturday night and wondered about her. I should probably contact the dairy and see if I can get it hidden on the property.
