Can an animal open a container with a screw-on top?
I wouldn’t have believed it unless I saw the evidence of it.
I found a cache today that I am CONVINCED was opened by an animal, BUT HOW? Reading the previous logs I can tell that it isnt the first time this has happened.Note the teeth marks on the tape.
How can an animal open a screw-on lid without an opposable thumb?
What animals do we have here in Wisconsin with an opposable thumbs?
Maybe a bigfoot? Is an open screw-top geocache container the hard evidence scientists need to prove Bigfoot’s existance?(I’ve already notified the cache owner about a potential problem)
I have another picture of the cache exactly as I found it with the contents spilled all over, but because it reveals the hiding location I will not post it here

03/15/2010 at 12:07 am #1925138Nope. No Bigfoot sigtings in either of Wood or Portage counties.
03/15/2010 at 12:10 am #1925139I think any self-respecting raccoon could open a peanut butter jar without too much effort.
03/15/2010 at 12:12 am #1925140I also suspect a racoon, but I thought a bigfoot thread would be more fun.
03/15/2010 at 1:44 am #1925141bigfooted raccoon? My mom used to feed them way back(don’t ask me why I still don’t understand) they could make a heckuva mess out of everything.
There’s a video somewhere on the net of a bird that learned how to bend a piece of wire into a hook for retrieving a “basket” of seed from a tube.
Maybe we have snow monkey’s?
03/15/2010 at 1:51 am #1925142I went to check on one of my caches and found it 50′ from where it was hidden in the hands of a racoon. It was an ammo box. I’ve also seen a squirrel running across a cemetery with a film canister in it’s mouth.
03/15/2010 at 1:53 am #1925143Did the “creature” also put the lid back on the container? If so, I would be more inclined to believe that Bigfoot was responsible.
And Helidood, since the above cache is in the area of the one you can’t find, I can tell you that Bigfoot definitely did NOT get Wazeecha Walking Trail! 😉

You sure about that? Because I think I caught Bigfoot messing with the cache right about the time I showed up this morning.
In the time it took me to pull my camera from my coat pocket he was gone. Jumped into the lake.
If you look real close you can see the ripple on the water where he jumped in.
03/15/2010 at 2:35 am #1925145I’m thinking I can see the cache container that has been eluding you, too, Helidood. If you look reeeeeeeeally close, it’s on the left side, quite a ways down in the photo, and (spoiler alert) it’s on the railing somewhere!
Gee, hope that Bigfoot didn’t wreck the fishing when he did his cannonball into the lake!

I said a raccoon ‘could’ have done it, which doesn’t exclude the possiblity of bigfoot.
However, that doesn’t look like bigfoot chew marks… 😉03/15/2010 at 10:19 pm #1925147If you do my cache, Bigfoot Sighting II, (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=d69b0abd-9f12-4fad-b858-931e39eb23e6) I guarantee that you will have at least 2 sightings of Big Foot.
03/16/2010 at 3:34 pm #1925148Look for a hair sample stuck to the exposed tape and run a DNA analysis to see if it is saquachian in origin.
03/26/2010 at 2:15 pm #1925149LOL, you guys are too funny…. what about werewolves??? I hear we have them up north 🙂
I have an EX-sister-in-law who claims she saw the reported werewolves many years ago while at a cabin party up north. She has some issues so I am not sure of her condition at the time of the supposed sighting 🙂
