Met Cashew on the trails today and he mentioned a “Bob Series” in the Chicago area. Does anyone have a link to the series or one of the caches? We would like to head down that way some day soon and attempt the series.

    Thanks in advance.

Have fun, there are 99 and each is about 528 feet apart.

The BoB’s are a great way to spend some quality time in your vehicle! The series was placed last year by Idiot Savant (aka/ Genius Loci and Hutt). You get to talk, and laugh, and play and listen to the radio…all while logging caches! Not a bad way to spend the day. (Me, I wish we’d have done them on a bike!
***IMPORTANT NOTE: This series is also fully accessible to those w/ physical challenges!***

You can access the entire series by using looking up the profile for Idiot Savant

Thanks for the responses. I have located the series and bookmarked it. Hope to get to it soon.

Is there a way to download the entire series? I have done a search on Idiot Savant and come up with about half of them.

Just do a pocket query centered around any one of the BoB caches. (assuming your are a GC premium member)

That’s what I did, and used a GSAK filter for caches that start with Bob. It was a fun day with Marc_54140 and Gizfinder. It also helps to have GOOD maps installed on the GPS.

I forgot to add that Genius Loci does not have a problem using small preprinted sticker to log each find.

You must be at least 5’6″ tall to reach some of them. They are all urban. There are a lot ov narrow and occasionally “one-Way” streets; you will need to be careful where you park. You may want to mix in a few “normal” caches. T&tb have been unable to visit more than 20-30 at a time due to boredom setting in. Budget about 5 minutes per cache. Have fun.

i’m a little taller than 5’6″ and there were still some i couldn’t reach. i had to send geo to my rescue.

Oh…that’s so sad! You should have just reached them from your car!

For the record, we took someone who uses a wheelchair for daily living…she has been caching for quite some time. She did the navigating and signed many of the logs for the others in the car. This was just our way of doing it, but it proved to be quite a nice way for her to get to do a lot of caches all at one time! In fact, after a few, she had reached 100 caches! It was quite the celebration!

Do the series how you see fit, but know that there is a way for EVERYONE to do it!

As for boredom…just go into it w/ an open mind and a bit of silliness in the car and you’ll be fine! I was lucky enough to be travelling w/ a bunch of crazies each time (sadly…all 4 times…that’s a 396 BoB’s and only 99 log each!).

Try emailing Joe via the GC site and perhaps he can send you the entire file…he’s a good guy and loves to help people w/ this craziness!

Even though they all say “Idiot Savant”, half were hidden by Geniul Loci, and the other half were hidden by Hutt, so you need to look up both of their profiles.

They were all placed on 10/23/2004, so you could use that in your search term as well. (Except for BoB 12ch for some reason has a 10/15/2004 date)

Miata, GisFinder and I did the whole series about 2 months ago. You should plan ahead, and plot out a route to follow in doing them, so as to eliminate as much back tracking as possible.

Also having a driver would help, as a lot of them can be drive ups and slap on your sticker and off you go to the enxt one. I think we took around 6 hours.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I think we have it under control now, and hope to get down there soon to do the series. We’ll let you know when we do. We are looking forward to a fun fun day!
