It seems that this afternoon that some bogus logs came through on caches on my watch list. The thing that caught my attention were logs like:
I really liked this geo!! Thanks

Found with hints from gcpro.co.ukThe website comes up blank on my end, so I don’t know what’s on it. Also, I noticed that the supposed finders have anywhere from 95 to 100 finds in different countries and multiple states just today, with a sign up date of today, and the different users have names ending in four numbers, like graham8539 or bullock3873
I found this thread on the GC forums as well:

09/05/2015 at 8:57 pm #2042646I received two logs on my caches exactly like that today also. I deleted one…the other didn’t show up on the web page.

09/05/2015 at 10:53 pm #2042647I know the hamster has been working diligently today on this, so the one must have been deleted before you got to it. It sounds like GS will be working to resolve this by next week some time, but I understand that some of the effected CO’s have been deleting these bogus logs on their own. That’s what I would have done had I been hit. . .that is unless Groundspeak got to it first.

09/06/2015 at 8:50 am #2042650One came up on a cache out here with an inactive CO. Hadn’t been found in 4+ years. I was pissed and then noticed it was the only one they logged in the area. Figured it was bogus, but no CO to delete. Guess it is fixed!
The best sig is no sig.
09/06/2015 at 8:59 am #2042651Four of our hides got hit. Deleted all four bogus logs ourselves, but in checking the profiles as we did each one, two had already been locked, while two others were still active. Guess the people at the Lilypad would have done the deleting themselves eventually.
Even bots writing bogus logs didn’t want to attempt “Granny Squares”… 😈
09/06/2015 at 10:40 am #2042652Thanks to this thread, we noticed one of our caches had been “found” under false pretenses. The cache was premium only, but the logger was not premium. 88 finds all over the world in one day. Well, now it’s down to 87.
