Is there anyone in the local area that would like to help out with this request:
Hello,
I would like to have organize a class at our grade school on geo-caching. Our High Interest Day is Friday, May 14th. We ar locaed in Brookfield Wisconsin, Grades K4-8. We offer classes all day that day on special interests and would LOVE to include Geocaching but I do not know where to start to find an instructor or to rent the equipment. I saw on your website that you are having a lesson in Waukesha in April and was hoping you could direct me to some of the people involved in that presenation to help me. I am hoping you will have some suggestions for me. Thank you so much.Tracey Durst

03/30/2010 at 10:29 pm #1924569I live up in Brown Deer and would be interested in helping out at this point (as I am currently out of work) . I am not a seasoned professional, but I have a gps, I am good with kids, and I have a sense of humor 🙂 (sense of humor is manditory with the kidlets!!)
Just let me know 🙂
03/30/2010 at 11:30 pm #1924570This type of activity is relatively easy.
1. Place some ‘temp’ caches are the area.
2. An intro session to explain caching, show off some types of containers, and explain how the GPS works.
3. Break into groups, and go hunt the temps.
(Probably best to have coords for the temps preloaded in the GPSs)
4. Have a ‘cacher’ with each group.
5. Have participants take turns using the GPS.If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
03/31/2010 at 3:05 pm #1924571Marc, this one is going to be a little different. Unlike the normal Geo 101 class, they hosting a High Interest Day – where the kids get to hear about different activities. They sign up for 6 different interests to check out throughout the day. They are looking for 6 – 1 hour geo classes. In addition its a pretty broad range of ages for the kids (K- 8th grade). The coordinator is working on getting us more info about how many will attend and ages. She seems to be super cooperative.
Koolma, I can send you the info that we’ve gotten so far, if you are interesting in teaming up for this. Just let me know. The more the merrier.
