I want to thank LDove for getting us together for this event. Jeremy did an awesome job of SAFELY getting us between caches and thepharmgirl was a great navigator/runner. As a team we worked well together and took down 1st place of the 11 teams which attended. Thanks also to SammyClaws for putting a fire under our butts and getting us moving.
My favorite moment was in the park when were trying to figure out the clue to a multi…and must have looked half crazed to the other visitors…we asked some people hurriedly where the fire department was and without pause flew out of the park. What must they have thought?
Oh and to my team mates, thanks for letting me talk your ears off…I don’t get out much….well not with real people anyway 😉
…and LDove, we forgive you for pointing us to the firehouse….
05/24/2008 at 11:59 pm #1889271My favorite moment was when Gary sprinted .2 miles across an open field for a cache and then ran almost all the way back… we definitely picked up a lot of time because of that. I was the wheelman so I got to take it easy in the car while watching my three teammates go (zig zag) nuts trying to find the caches… I never broke a sweat. 🙂
Everyone who participated had a good time… I hope next year that they allow more teams and we get more SE Wisconsin cachers to sign up. The contest was almost won by a GONIL team from Illinois which would have been a major embarrassment!
05/25/2008 at 1:26 am #1889272What a fantastic day! The teamwork was outstanding with LB7’s legs doing the sprinting (that was a lonnnnng run back and forth across that field – wow!) 😯 and jumping over things 😈 , Jeremy’s fantastic driving skills and The Pharmgirl’s help with navigation. This is really a fun event that Burlington has – too bad we did not get to sample more of the chocolate. Thanks everyone for going, I had a lot of fun and it was great to make some new friends and meet the SammyClaws team too and others. Next year, maybe we can meet the rest of the LB7 family and get two teams going! 😀
p.s. yep sorry about the firestation thing, being in EMS I have my brain wired one way – heh! 🙄
05/25/2008 at 1:52 am #1889273Congrats to team Zagnut. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun. I wouldn’t mind trying this out next year, but not if sprinting or any kind of running is involved. What was first place prize?
05/25/2008 at 2:06 am #1889274Great job to my teammates!! Yes, I think Gary was the MVP for the day, with all his sprinting. And you didn’t talk our ears off at all. I really enjoyed meeting you! Jeremy was an excellent driver and Laurell solved our puzzle quickly.
I will try to figure out how to upload the pictures now…
Sorry for the delay… I had to go run for a FTF near Kewaskum…hee hee. 😆
05/25/2008 at 2:22 am #1889275Gary with his super speed…

The booty…

First place goes to….ZigZagNuts!

[/img]05/25/2008 at 4:48 am #1889276Congratulations ZigZagaroos or whatever your team name ended up being. It’ll be easy to spot the four of you next week. All we have to do is look for drooly chocolate smiles and fresh outbreaks of zits.
05/25/2008 at 11:16 pm #1889277Yup! Congrats to ZiggyZagNuts! 😀
Question 1: Why does Burlington have *2* Fire Departments?
Question 2: Why were they both closed? 😕
(Yes, we visited both of them… 😳 )

05/27/2008 at 4:22 am #1889279Ummm, that would be the CITY of Burlington Fire Department and the TOWN of Burlington Fire Department. I believe they are both volunteer so no one actually stays at the station.
05/27/2008 at 1:28 pm #1889280Sorry this was so long in coming, but we spent the weekend at our cottage which is closer to Burlington. We only have an internet connection when the neighbor activiates his cable. 😆
Congrats to Team ZigZagNuts. Well done. We were HOT your trail til we BURNED the last riddle. (stupid fireplace) But this does mean we have a whole year to determine what the wager will be next year.
LDove – sorry we didnt get to that beer, I thought your group we be sticking around longer
We will see you next year!
05/27/2008 at 5:19 pm #1889281Oh yea, sorry bout that 😳 It was rather warm at the end of the day and a refreshing beverage would have been great – we did grab a lemonade on the way out though. We had another team member to take back to their car so they could get home to family and so we chose to leave. It was great fun meeting you and the other teams and having fun kidding each other back and forth regarding the big “win.” I think the event was very well done considering it was their first.
To others reading, the first place prize was a giant “slab” 😛 of chocolate about 10″ around from Nestle, a round of golf for four on a local course, gift certificates from Kid Zone, a movie theatre, a bowling alley, Walmart and probably a few other things I forgot. 😀 We also got 4 nice t-shirts, some candy bars, one – one pound certificate for choc chip cookie dough for our $5.00 registration per person and a bunch of candy bars.
I look forward to the challenge next year and hope to get our speedy team back together, so look out! 😈
05/28/2008 at 12:03 am #1889282Way to go Team!!!
