No, there is always the very valid choice to stay inside in the winter, but benny’s original plea was simply to encourage the use of attributes to help those of us who do enjoy winter caching, as it can be helpful in choosing where we might want to cache.

I still haven’t been successful in turning the attributes “on” so my Oregon will display them, though. I know there was a thread here about that and I did what it said, and…no go.

No surprise, considering it’s me. I still marvel that I’m active in a sport that relies so much on technology!

Winter caching can be great. The snow can be beautiful and it sure makes the short winter days more enjoyable if you get out and get a bit of what little sun there is.

And not steal Benny’s thread, I do try to list in the attributes whether it is winter friendly or not, and often have the clue refer to whether it is winter friendly or not. But truthfully, I rarely look at the attributes myself.

Instead, what I do is I try to remember who tends to hide their caches on the ground, and who tends to hide them in a winter friendly way. We are heading to Fondy on Sunday, primarily because Jim and Linda consistently place their caches in winter friendly locations, and lots of the other cachers in Fondy have followed their example. Should be a good day. On the other hand, I have had days of trying to dig up a bunch of ground hides out of the snow, and that can be frustrating.
