Actually, Wisconsin statute 895.52 makes it nearly impossible to SUCCESSFULLY sue someone for injuries incurred while participating in a recreational activity. Essentially you have to prove that the other party intentionally injured you (with an exception for contact sports, where intentional injury is also exempted!) That said, they could still file a lawsuit and waste people’s time and money defending it. Most organizations require a waiver to allow for a quick quashing of these frivolous lawsuits.
Interesting….and let me tell you if you are uninsured and just married stay off of city playground equipment (which may or may not be subject to catastrophic failure) as you can’t sue the city either…and if the police tell you to go to the hospital don’t think it will be covered by the city…he cares about your health not your bankbook.
08/11/2009 at 2:50 am #1910065I remember hearing from someone that some of the caches might be in the Kettle Morraine area. Are any of the caches hidden on DNR land where a State Parks admission sticker is required?
08/12/2009 at 2:26 am #1910066wow the registrations just keep coming for all the events…this is gonna be be big.
08/12/2009 at 3:06 am #1910067Interesting parallel to an event forty years ago in upstate New York . . .
Same date, too . . .08/12/2009 at 4:37 pm #1910068Are the 50 new caches that are being placed going to be dated as placed on 8-15 or 8-14? I am assuming that some, if not all of the caches are already in place. I hope that they will be dated as being placed this weekend, so that I can run a Pocket Quiere easier for just these new caches.
I know that I will just be able to download them at the meet and greet, but if they are dated for the weekend it will be easier on my phone to pull them up. Thanks.
08/12/2009 at 4:39 pm #1910069Also….are the caches to apear first at the Friday night or first online?
08/12/2009 at 4:45 pm #1910070If I remember, and if I have time, I’ll change all the cache placement dates to the 14th on Friday morning. Unfortunately, it won’t let me pre-date them right now.
As for the release time…. it depends on our wonderful Wisconsin reviewers and what works best for him/her.
I’m still checking into the State Park Sticker question about the 50 caches. I’m asking the other cache hiders since I don’t really have knowledge of their caches. A couple of the 4 night caches are in the State Forest and the parking lots technically require a sticker.
08/12/2009 at 4:47 pm #1910071Please also check on county park sticker needs as well as I see several county parks in the area…not sure if those are fee entry based or not…of if any of the new caches will show up there anyway.

County parks do not have a fee. 8)

There will be a GPX file available for download off the web on Friday. It will contain ONLY the Cache Ba$h caches and associated waypoints. An announcement will be made on the cache page when you can download it.
Alternatively, we can download to your GPS or give you the raw GPX file at the event Friday night.
I would not assume you’ll be able to get the cache information off geocaching.com at a reasonable time Friday evening / night…

Okay, looks like State Park Stickers are NOT required for the 50 caches if you use the parking coordinates that we provide.
08/13/2009 at 9:41 pm #1910078Do you have the LONG hikes marked somewhere for us crippled people? I think I’ll take the cane as well as the walker, but I don’t know how I’ll do on long hikes. 😥
