re: Mega Status
Please note that Groundspeak will not give you this status until AFTER you have your first year with 500 or more attendees. If you wanted to, you might be able to petition for a change in status after the event, but that is obviously not too useful for marketing the event. I think you had something like 300 last year, so a significant increase is still needed to make it to Mega status.
12/03/2008 at 3:58 pm #1897868Thanks Team DJ for the advice. They are working on it based on last year’s attendance and said if it appeared we would get to 500, based on attended logs – they will give it out early or even after the event. So important the people list how many are coming in their logs to help us achieve this goal.
Oh and everybody put your creative thinking caps on! We are discussing having a creative cache container contest. An urban and a rural hide. How sneaky and creative can you be? We will have a judging and prizes for the best submissions. Thanks to Ecorangers for the great contest idea! Also, get your snorkel gear and fins ready, probably going to be an underwater cache this year – on Sunday…. more info to come!

Good idea. What about some caches that require a canoe or kayak?
12/04/2008 at 2:46 am #1897870There are some islands in Big Cedar Lake….I’ll have to check out to see if any are on “public” land. tami
12/04/2008 at 6:10 pm #1897871😯 😆 We could get some boats, take a three hour geocaching tour – what a great idea – ha! Who wants to be Gilligan? We already have a professor 😛 😆
12/04/2008 at 6:14 pm #1897872I’ll be the Millionaire. Who wants to give me some $$cache$$? 8)
12/04/2008 at 6:14 pm #1897873I thought about suggesting this (island caches) but changed my mind….I really was afraid it may come to see the light of day…..I have two kayaks ready and waiting to get wet.
12/04/2008 at 6:29 pm #1897874$$$cache$$$ now that’s funny right there!!! 😆 LB7, you can be the Skipper – we will fill you full of chocolate and Starbucks coffee and let you row, row, row your boat. Now I know you are competitive kinda guy you won’t have some sort of a 1,204 horse Mercury motor under that thing will ya? 😯 😮 💡 😈

Tami and Laurel. Hmm, which is Ginger and which is MaryAnn?

I vote for Annie PharmGirl for MaryAnn, just look how outdoorsy she is! HA! Tami is definitely Ginger with that long angelic hair of hers. Me, I’ll be Mrs. HOWL since OWL is kinda close to Doves and I do love money and diamonds. I also tend to yell and howl alot when I get my car or body parts stuck in swamps, burdocks or other gross places.
12/04/2008 at 7:51 pm #1897877I think adding island caches that require a canoe/boat/kayak would pique my interest as well as others from the Central Wisconsin area ….that is if everyone is accepting of us Outlanders!

How about Jeremy for Gilligan. Didn’t you always wonder how the story would unfold?
12/04/2008 at 8:12 pm #1897879I would think you could also have caches along the MKE river. Paddlers could paddle up stream a bit or you could have entry and exit points. At the exit point could be transportation back to the entry point. Looking at caches on google maps it looks like Riverside Park doesn’t have much for caches near the river. Paddlers could get on the river near regner and exit at riverside (not sure if that is possible)???
12/04/2008 at 8:15 pm #1897880oooohh cool idea! We will look into that! Thanks for the suggestion! I will have to ask the reviewer(s) or if you are reading this reviewer(s), whose jurisdiction are the river banks? Would you think they would be DNR? Local? Hmmmm – anybody?
Hope we would not get a ton of rain the day of or before and lose our cachers down into the Milwaukee River or something 😯 glug
12/04/2008 at 8:28 pm #1897881Would you still consider it if it was on a separate day – say for an event on Sunday or would people prefer to have it on the Saturday event?
