Would you still consider it if it was on a separate day – say for an event on Sunday or would people prefer to have it on the Saturday event?
I would prefer sunday.

It depends on the “work load” 50 Caches on one day would make getting 2-3 water finds a pretty tough feet. If there were say 30 (Saturday) caches and 5ish water caches there might be a better chance of finding them all.
How bout this:
Friday night release about 5ish night caches from which stamps would need to be obtained…we could stamp on anything as proof of the visit….
Saturday morning we come and get the official stamp book and then go looking for 40ish caches….at day end we turn in the 40ish day cache stamps (stamped on the official form) and the 5ish night cache stamps (which we stamped on whatever paper we had laying around); all would apply to the Saturday prize drawings…yep thats right, those who found the night caches would have up to 5 more chances in the prize drawing…
Saturday (post event) or Sunday morning 5ish water caches are released and the whole stamp thing applies again but this time the papers need to be mailed into the chamber for some kind of special water caching prize….
Oh and BTW I don’t know where you heard I was competitive…..that doesn’t sound like me at all. 😈

How about Jeremy for Gilligan. Didn’t you always wonder how the story would unfold?

I’m not sure Jilligan or Gillemy has the mental capacity to upload coordinates to all the various GPSr’s out there. And not having resized him, it looks like he could hurt poor old Mary Ann.
12/04/2008 at 9:58 pm #1897885OMG!!! 😆 😆 😆 😆 That made my day!
12/04/2008 at 11:41 pm #1897886I’m getting dangerously close to hitting the delete button on this entire topic… don’t make me do it guys! 😀

oooohh cool idea! We will look into that! Thanks for the suggestion! I will have to ask the reviewer(s) or if you are reading this reviewer(s), whose jurisdiction are the river banks? Would you think they would be DNR? Local? Hmmmm – anybody?
Hope we would not get a ton of rain the day of or before and lose our cachers down into the Milwaukee River or something 😯 glug
As far as I know, river banks are like shorelines. You will have to look and see who owns the property. However, you will also have to look at the laws regarding the normal high water marks and probably tresspassing laws in regards to the normal high water marks. Many times the high water mark will be completely on dry land for most of the year and appear to be private property when it isn’t. You will want to be thorough though, because I think that the interpretations on some of these laws may have changed in the last few years. If memory serves, you might be able to find a little something about this in the DNR’s fishing regulations pamphlet which should be available anywhere fishing licenses are sold, or on their website, which I don’t have at this time.
12/05/2008 at 1:36 am #1897888Holy cow, I don’t check the forum for awhile, and look what happens. 🙄 😆 Gilligan looks quite dashing though…
I do like LB7’s suggestion if we could pull that off. Plus, it would get more people to stay and enjoy West Bend the entire weekend. More days caching=more fun. 😀
12/05/2008 at 2:29 am #1897889I like the idea of trying to make it encompass a 3 day event also. We came up for 2 of the days (but it is only a 25 minute drive for us). We liked the Meet & Greet but I like night caching better. The Saturday portion we found most of the caches but if it was varied some to include some field solve puzzles and something else on Sunday I think it would be more beneficial.
Looking at this form the tourism point for West Bend we were real cheap and only at dinner there (and a drink at the meet and greet), but if they were to find a away to do something more interesting than the Flash Mob I think we would come back up. Of course if it something water related I may have to borrow a canoe or a set a waders.
The set up for the first time was good, actually very good and all involved should be proud of what they accomplished, but I applaud them for also asking what can we do to improve12/05/2008 at 2:56 am #1897890Great photos of Gilligan and MaryAnn. LOL. What a hoot.

12/05/2008 at 3:15 pm #1897891River banks are part of the adjacent property above the normal high water mark (NOT the 100 year floodplain.)
08/16/2009 at 10:10 pm #1897892Well, now that we have the 2009 Cache Bash behind us, I would like to pose the same question? How can we please you? ❓
We pretty much did everything requested (I think!) so what would you like to see next year??? 😀 I had several people tell me they liked the water caches, although the one did go missing for some reason so we may try to do that again. Also, it was suggested to do more difficult hides like the Sticky Situation hide (but that was the one that had the hotline ringing like crazy all day with questions to me about it or people plain out wanting me to tell them where it was – ain’t gonna happen it was rated 4.5 and that just would not be fair!)
So… BRING IT – tell us what do you want… within REASON! 😯 😛 😆
P.S. Had to bring up this thread again, just looking at Gilligan/Jeremy is worth rereading the thread isn’t it?

We had a fine time! Our 1st caching trip to West Bend; our friends in Newburg who own a B&B sent us an early newspaper article, and suggested we join them. 😀 Turned out to be just 7 miles up the road, and a great idea. Even Mrs. refelo joined in.Didn’t get back to grab my name badge; any way they can mail them to us? I did pay the $. Otherwise … oh well.
For a 2nd event, this was well organized and lots of fun. THANKS!

08/16/2009 at 11:52 pm #1897895😆 😆 The idea of karoke was brought up but was voted down, it was thought that people wanted to be able to talk etc… and would grate on some people’s nerves *who don’t maybe like karaoke. 😕 It would be a great idea for the Friday Meet and Greet however and we will put that on the list for next year to take in to consideration!
08/16/2009 at 11:58 pm #1897896woo hoo!!
