In light of recent events, avoid using this design on your future caches (especially in the Boston area). It, quite understandably, causes bomb scares…

02/02/2007 at 3:30 am #1769583I think every true geocacher’s heart skipped a beat when they heard about “suspicious looking objects hidden around the Boston area attracting Bomb Squads and Law Enforcement; and shutting down highways, bridges and riverways.”
02/02/2007 at 9:48 pm #1769584This story was hilarious. 🙂
I’ll have to make sure I don’t accidently drop an old computer motherboard on the sidewalk when moving equipment. It might get mistaken for a bomb because it has circuits on it. 😛
02/03/2007 at 5:21 am #1769585My first reaction to the news tease was “OH CRAP!”. Then after seeing the signs “WHEW !!!!”.
02/03/2007 at 11:29 am #1769586It seems to me that back in 2002-2003 there were a number of ammobox geocaches that relyed on batteries, wires, lights and sounds for special effects. Perhaps a few of our members have narrowly escaped the wrfath of the media and the law. [eg: GC696E, GCB1BC].

“The Forbidden Forest” in San Diego is just such an ammo can. It has wires coming out of the box that feed a light and alarm.
