    Hello everyone,

I now have the cache containers in my hot little hands.

I have 2 caches for each of the 4 volunteers.

I will drop off Steve’s containers at his house in Waukesha.

For Dave, Mark, and Paul, I can give you my address and Lat/Lon so you can pick them up at my house on your way to the park.

I plan on going to the park either Mon, Tue, or Wed evening to check the trails and place my cache. If anyone else is interested in meeting at the park one of those days, let know.

Cachcows have a cache to give to thraxman.

Jeremy, can you give one of your containers to Ken?

Just a couple reminders about cache placement:

[*]Must be placed within park boundaries. Do not place them on private property or correctional institution property.

[*]Caches should be safe. Avoid obvious dangers. Scan area for poison ivy, wild parsnip, thorns, burrs, etc.

[*]Avoid areas which would be very noticable to the non-caching park users.

[*]We did not seek permission from the DNR to hold this event and they are not aware of our intentions (as far as we know). If for some reason you were to encounter park staff, please do not spill your guts. Immediately eat the cache containers and consume the enclosed cyanide pill. Do not let them know you are hiding caches. If questioned by the DNR the day of the picnic, this is basically a GPS scavanger hunt for markers that are only out for one day.

[*]Make sure your coordinates are as accurate as possible.

    [*]Provide detailed clue

[*]Create a name for the cache and note what stamp is in that container.

Also, some organizers have expressed an interest in performing a “dry run” on each other’s caches to insure quality and findability. It is expected that one or two organizers will check all the caches before the picnic. Hopefully this will eliminate any of the problems that have sprung up at past events.

Yes, I can give my other container to Ken, but you forgot about Sam. I guess he can get the “Curves Ahead” cache after I retrieve it from Governor Dodge (assuming it is still there).

I have not forgotten about Sam. I figure he must be on vacation since we haven’t heard from him lately.

I still have 2 stamps from the Campout. I believe I will have a container for Sam.

Sounds good to me. I’m not sure what day I’ll be able to go up, but I’m probably going to wait for a day where there’s not a big chance of rain. If you’re going to be there next week in the evening, perhaps I’ll come up then.

Jeremy, if you want to put the container for me somewhere in Lapham Peak park and then email the coordinates plus a sure thing clue, I can just get it there when I go to hide it.

Yup, we were on vacation, all right.
Back to Gov Dodge again. Man, I love that park. And now it will always be a place full of great memories, since the geo-campout.
Anyway, you have my # Brian. Call me so we can work out when I can come and get the container, ok?

    Brian,

I’m making plans to get to the park this weekend. I hope to pick up the caches on wednesday or thursday night. Is either night better for you? Let me know.

    Mark

    Brian,

I’ll probably be coming up tonight to hide them as I’m not sure of any other night this week I’ll be available. I’m coming up from Kenosha, and hopefully I’ll be up to pick them up a little after 5, but who knows with the construction…

If you’re not going to be around and want to leave them out, that’s fine.

My only other question is: do we want these within a certain vicinity of the site, or are we covering the entire park?

Please respond here or drop me an email so I know that you got this so I don’t drive up up and find that you were out all day and didn’t know I was coming!

    Dave,

I’ve set out two containers and stamps for you. They are hanging on my mailbox right next to the front door of my house.

I should be home so ring the bell and say “Hi”. If not, the containers will be there.

The whole park is open to caching. If you place them too far from the picnic, people may choose not to walk that far. If you place them to close, you may have multiple teams searching at the same time.

Your best bet is to get a park map and check out the shelter area. From there you should get a feel of how far is too far.

make sure you leave some caches for me when you plan on meeting Mark. I will most likely be going with him to place containers.
    Thanks
