This is my first year at attempting LCG caches. we were looking at a few on the list and were just found in the last couple of days by other LCG players, are these caches out of play for the rest of us, or can we still get points by visiting them? Thanks for any info
Rule 12 a.
a. There is no limit to the number of people who can earn points by finding caches for the first time. There is no limit to the number of people who can earn points by DNFing a cache they haven’t previously found.
Thanks BC, I read the rules, and was figuring that is what the rule meant, but wanted clarification.
Any number of finders of a particular cache can claim those points during the two-month cycle that it is on the LCG list. However, only one finder (unless more than one cacher/team goes along on the hunt) can claim the double or triple bonus points for caches that haven’t been found in a year or two. After that, the following finder(s) get just the regular “find” points.
And there are cachers who don’t play the LCG who may be the first ones to find the cache in over a year or two. In that case, the bonus points go unclaimed, but the regular points are still available to any finders during the cycle.
And you can play the LCG without being competitive. It’s fun, and you’re still helping keep the quality of Wisconsin caches high just by playing.
