I have the box of temp caches and I either need to get it to one of you before I go out of town (Sunday) or else somebody who is going past on I-94 can swing down and pick the box up from my house. Probably one of you on the list from the Milwaukee area should arrange something with me.

08/21/2007 at 5:22 pm #1877319Cache hiding day is quickly approaching. As posted above, we plan to meet at the upper shelter, which is near N43 42.192 W90 34.795. Meeting time is at 9:00 AM. Don’t go out hiding caches until after we’ve met in the morning.
If the shelter is already reserved or occupied, we will move to a different location, AFTER we’ve met near the shelter.
Bring your FRS radios. We will be using FRS channel 7 to keep in touch throughout the day.
Plan for the weather. With the current trend, we may need rain gear, but hopefully not. If it’s hot, bring plenty of water. I’d expect a record mosquito hatch with all the standing water, so bring some bug spray.
Bring any specialized equipment you might need for hiding your cache. The events should be a showcase of creative cache ideas. Here is your chance to try something that might not last in a permanent cache environment.
We have a large assortment of small cache containers, and will provide the self-inking stamps. If you have ideas for a specialty container, PLEASE bring it along or plan to use it. This is a great opportunity to come up with some creative containers. If they can’t handle exposure to the elements until the Picnic, you can record the location on Saturday, and wait until the picnic to place the container.
We normally divide the park up into different quadrants. Everyone chooses a section of the park to focus their temps. We will have a large map that we will draw on to indicate everyone’s territory.
We will provide you with sheets to record your cache info. Once you’ve hidden your cache, record the cache info. At your convenience, bring the completed forms back to base camp. I will then enter the data into the laptop and make sure we have good separation between the caches, and they are in acceptable areas. I plan to be at the “base camp” for the majority of the day.
There will be a SNA in the park that we must avoid.
If you need my cell phone number, please send me a PM, and I’ll be glad to exchange cell phone numbers with you. I have no idea what the quality of cell coverage will be in the park.
We need a head count on who will be there. This will help us prepare the necessary materials. If you have last minute emergency and need to cancel, please let us know asap. If your schedule has opened up and you would like to help out, please let us know in this forum so you can be included on our roster.

GrouseTales08/22/2007 at 7:47 pm #1877320Why is it, about 90% of the time, I have no plans at all on the weekend (besides caching, but that’s a given) and I don’t have to work, and then when I actually make some plans, I do have to work? 😡 I have to work Saturday from 11am till 5pm. DOH. I shouldn’t complain too loud, I checked out of my temporary lodgings this morning. Now I need the money. Sorry everyone. 🙁 I’ll see you guys at the Picnic.
08/24/2007 at 12:23 am #1877321I am so sorry but I won’t be able to help with the hiding. I was really looking forward to it and had all my “tools of the trade” packed up and ready to go. Unfortunately, something came up last minute that I cannot put off. I will be at the picnic though and still plan on camping the weekend. Again, I am sorry.
