Hi,
I realize this isn’t a high priority thing, but thought I’d throw this out there in case anyone has the ability and inclination to make it happen…The COTM competition is a great idea for lots of reasons, one of which is to direct cachers to other members’ favorite caches. The problem is that a list of names that long isn’t user-friendly.
Wouldn’t it be great if both the COTM winners and honorable mentions were available on a map? Something like the Lonely Cache Game map would be perfect. That way, when I’m planning a trip to a particular area, I could check the map to see if there are any past COTM nominees in the vicinity.
Updating the map annually would still be great if monthly is too much of a bother.
I really think this would make the COTM data MUCH more valuable to members.
Thanks for listening,
Sue05/06/2010 at 1:08 pm #1928539Sue, one way to do that right now is to click on the “Past Winners” tab at the top of the COTM page. Then click on “View Cache of the Month winners as a geocaching.com bookmark list”. At the very bottom of the bookmark page is a link to create a pocket query. Give it a name and save it.
You never have to run the PQ if you don’t want. You can use the little magnifying glass icon on your PQ list to view the map.
If you are logged into GC.com, you can see the map here.
This is a great suggestion that I think we should look into.

Note that creating a Pocket Query is a “Premium Member” feature of geocaching.com. We will definitely discuss this since not all WGA members are geocaching.com premium members.
05/06/2010 at 2:02 pm #1928541Wow – I finally found the “little magnifying glass” you referred to – I never recognized that icon as a magnifying glass and never checked it before. This will be a BIG help to me. Thanks a TON!
I’m sure there’s an awful lot I’m not taking advantage of just because I don’t know it’s there. Live and learn.
Thanks again,
