01/07/2003 at 6:10 am #172092201/07/2003 at 2:07 pm #1745148I think thats a great idea! If someone wants to draw up some possible logo ideas for “C.O.T.M” winners, submit them for us to take a look at. 01/07/2003 at 8:11 pm #1745149Excellent idea! 01/08/2003 at 3:21 am #1745150Ask and you shall receive. Let me know what you think of these possibilities… personally I like #1. #2 is the same as #1 except it has a border all the way around to better match our existing large banner graphic. #3 is a smaller version of #2. #1: #2: #3: [This message has been edited by jvechinski (edited 01-07-2003).] 01/08/2003 at 3:34 am #1745151I think #3 the smaller one is nicer. 01/08/2003 at 12:10 pm #1745152The proposed Cache of the Month graphics are similar to the WGA Member graphics– same basic shape, colors, and lettering. How about something that looks much different so it calls attention, perhaps something that looks like an award, such as a blue ribbon or gold medallion. It won’t be annoying because these won’t apper on very many web pages. When they do they should get noticed. Just my 2 cents. [This message has been edited by kbraband (edited 01-08-2003).] 01/08/2003 at 12:23 pm #1745153I think I like #3 better as well. Actually, I don’t see a difference between #1&2.
Good Work, and fast, too.Constructivly, do we need the word “winner” on the top? It would look a bit cleaner without it and “winner” looks a lot like “whiner” or “weener”. I think we would get the same message across without it and not run the risk of picking up undesirable references “This month’s Wisconsin Weenie award goes to…”. tb 01/08/2003 at 12:32 pm #1745154Ken must be on line as I am typing here.
I had thought about the blue ribbon for the page as well. After thinking it over, I agree it has merit. But, so does jvechinski’s logo. The latter gives some “brand recognition” with distinction. Perhaps the WGA logo with a blue ribbon on it and the COTM&date on the blue ribbon would be doable.. Please don’t ask me for an illustration, that is out of the scope of my talents.tb 01/08/2003 at 2:16 pm #1745155I was also thinking of something along the lines of a ribbon or seal, however, I do like Jeremys ideas. Here is a very rough draft of a ribbon modifying the 2nd picture Ken submitted.
Don’t laugh, it took me 10 minutes to make01/08/2003 at 5:41 pm #1745156I like this one from Ken’s post: Change the logo in the circle to the WGA logo, then text to the right that says something like Voted July Cache of the month The graphic itself should include the link to the COTM web page. 01/08/2003 at 5:58 pm #1745157I like the ribbon idea so it stands out from the other WGA banner. Also if we are going to keep doing this lets not forget to put the year on as well as the month since some of these caches could be out for quite a while.
Bill01/08/2003 at 9:01 pm #1745158Arn just made these for you to all look at for ideas.
 #1:#2: #3:
They could be shrunk in size too. For example:
#4:[This message has been edited by CacheCows (edited 01-08-2003).] 01/08/2003 at 11:37 pm #1745159I really like Arn’s #1… but it probably should be a little smaller (but definitely not as small as #4). Also, would it look better if the background color for the WGA logo was something other than the tan/sand color? Like maybe just white, or light blue to match the ribbon? I can easily provide the logo with different background color if you want. The text used on the ribbon is different (not the same font) as that used for the logo, though I don’t think anyone else will notice or care. The ‘month, year’ text will have to be shrunken down as well (August ’02 is shorter than September ’02). [This message has been edited by jvechinski (edited 01-08-2003).] 01/09/2003 at 1:44 pm #1745160I like Arn’s #1 and #3. I agree with Jeremy that the sand colored WGA logo on #1 should be changed. Perhaps change it to more of a gold color to match the lettering on ribbon tails. #3 would look great if the sand colored WGA background was the same color as the yellow on the upper ribbon portion. 01/09/2003 at 2:43 pm #1745161Shoot us the WGA logo with a white, light blue, yellow (matching the upper portion of #3), and gold (matching the lettering of ribbons) backgrounds (I think that was all the suggestions ) and she can try out those ideas. What font does the WGA logo use so we can try that as well. Also, if #4 is too small, what would work? That was a 50% reduction, want to see a 33% reduction?
