Move one, both both, starting point down the trail a ways.

He’s only got 480 feet to work with … he can’t move his points far enough apart.
Sorry StarWarsGuy, but I’d say you only have enough room for one cache. I’ve had places I’d like to put more than one cache too, but when there’s not enough room the “rules” don’t support placing a second cache. I don’t the powers-that-be would see this as a reason to allow an exception, or we’d have just as many exceptions as not.
05/07/2008 at 6:39 pm #1888945Could you make one of the multicache starting points a “virtual” waypoint? For example, have them read something off a sign at the park and use this information to calculate the coordinates to stage #2 of the multi. (You could maybe find a sign that has information about the rec center that geocachers would find useful?)
If there are not two physical “things” (containers, tags, etc.) within 0.1 miles you should be OK… at least that is how I interpret the guidelines. You probably want to ask an actual Wisconsin reviewer.
05/07/2008 at 8:56 pm #1888946It seems to me, that if this is juts the “starting point” for a multi cache, and there won’t be anything actually AT the location, it wouldn’t be too hard to just move down the trail a few feet and mark that as the starting location.
Since there will not be a “cache” at that location, it could be right in the middle of the trail even. it’s just a starting point for the trail right?

this was my question. The Caches will be more than 2 mile apart when finished. but can waypoint….or non finials of a multi be closer together? that was my real question.
05/08/2008 at 11:53 am #1888948if they are true multi waypoints with containers they cannot be closer than .1 to any other cache waypoint with containers. I would go the virtual route on one of them (as noted by Jeremy) to save you the headache. It’s a real good solution for this type of problem. Even if you own both caches, you cannot yourself break the rules.
Make one of them a “reference point” waypoint type. Find something or somethings that can make up the numbers for the next clear waypoint coords.
