I am having trouble installing the cachemate software onto my computer. I down loaded it and it shows as a zip file under programs. When I click on it I get a dos screen and I get no further. I am trying to get it installed before going to paperless workshop this weekend. If I don’t figure it out I know the folks there will help me but I am hoping I can play with it before then. Thanks. Ratz

Windows XP should handle a zip file without any add-ons. If not, perhaps you should try extracting it with WinZip and see if that gives you any joy.
If that doesn’t work, let me know and I can provide you with an unzipped copy via download or e-mail if your mail server will accept an 840KB attachment.
04/27/2006 at 11:02 am #1741338Winzip did the trick. I got the evaluation shareware and can use it for 45 days before paying for it. I don’t know if I need to buy it as I don’t download may zip files. But then again I have never had a palm pilot before so maybe I will need it later on. Thanks.
04/28/2006 at 4:11 pm #1741339Cachemate is only $8 for a lifetime of use. The updates are free once you pay the $…it’s well worth the cost!
I’m not sure how it is now, but when I started using the Cachemate shamreware program a couple of years ago, it had a limit on the number of caches you could load at a time. I believe it was 20…hopefully it’s changed now, but still I say, pay the $8! You won’t regret it.04/28/2006 at 5:16 pm #1741340The major is right about Cachemate being worth the money. I think the current limit is only 10 caches for the evaluation version.
With regard to Winzip, if you are planning on upgrading your operating system to Windows XP, you should do that instead of spending the money for Winzip as it is included in the new OS. If you aren’t planning to upgrade, Winzip is one of those “must-have” utilities for internet life.
