I would love to do this as the recommended night cache — I can imagine the star gazing must be spectacular (I’ve visted this park in daylight.) Is there anyone out there that hasn’t gotten to this one yet, and would like a partner (who isn’t the most comfortable about walking around by herself in the dark)?

09/14/2004 at 2:32 am #1750360Looking back through the logs, I’m one of the very few who actually did this one at night. It is a GREAT place for star-gazing and I was lucky enough to be there on a clear night. The terrain is very easy-going; just look out for the pond.
My second favorite place for star-gazing was GrouseTale’s highly recommended cache “Salute to Stute”.
09/14/2004 at 2:59 am #1750361Yeah, that pond could be problematic (but I bet a great reflecting pool on a starry night!)
I did the Stute one in the early AM. I thought that was pretty special, but I can just imagine how fantastc that view would be with stars.
I’ll even amp up my request for a partner on Cacheopia with the promise of tasty treats…. Any takers?

09/14/2004 at 3:07 am #1750362Let me know when you are thinking about doing it and I’ll see if I am available. Always looking for an excuse to go out caching.
Uncle_Fun09/14/2004 at 3:17 am #1750363Excellent! And what would be your tasty treats order? I’m pretty much willing to give this one a try anytime. Perhaps this weekend? I am on call to work, but I don’t think that will include any evening hours. But I’m generally pretty flexible if this doesn’t work for you.
And of course, anyone else is welcome to join as well (tasty, tasty treats!…..)

09/15/2004 at 12:50 am #1750364I would love to go if I lived in the area! But its a wee bit of a drive for me. Geez, I could’ve given you a detailed tour of the night sky too..
Hmm, maybe we should have a nighttime caching event. I could bring out the big scopes and set em up for everyone to look through when we’re done caching….

I may be able to go this Friday night. I will need to check it out and also the weather report. I will let you know.
Uncle_Fun09/15/2004 at 1:20 pm #1750367Let me know! There is a very small chance that I might have to work a bit on Friday night as well. We’ll get it all figured out!

09/16/2004 at 1:32 am #1750368my Friday night looks thusly:
I work until 4:30pm, and then from 8-9pm. All in Fort Atkinson, so I’m not too far from this geocache. I could be there by 9:30 (not sure if the park is still open?) Before that time, I think there is still too much light.
But no real hurry on this one. It might even make a nice milestone for me (I’m slowly edging towards 200.)

09/16/2004 at 2:07 am #1750369OK here is the plan. We are meeting in the parking lot at 9:30pm Friday September 17th. I talked with Lost Boyscout and Whitnallgps and they are going to be joining us. I may bring Geocaching Widow along as well.
Hope to see more of you there. Don’t forget your headlamps.

09/18/2004 at 5:05 am #1750371Greyhounder, Whitnallgps, Lost Boyscout and myself with the find tonight at about 9:45pm. What a great clear night with tons of stars. Greyhounder brought the milky way snack. Glad we did this at night. Wish more of you could have joined us.
Uncle_Fun09/18/2004 at 5:27 am #1750372Big thanks to the three of you for joining me! I had fun!
