I have a DeLorme PN30 and I downloaded the new Dretzka park series that popped up today, got out to the park and only the last one was on my GPS. I ran back home (because it wasn’t that far) tried downloading again and noticed that each download just replaced the first… I have room on the GPS for more caches, so thats not the problem. I am just wondering if it is a geocaching.com glitch, or if maybe there is an issue with my GPS or if maybe I somehow inadvertantly screwed up a setting?? Any one with any input on this??
I ended up downloading the first cache and just printed up the rest to take with… I don’t want to have to keep doing that, I got rid of the old gps to go paperless for a reason!! lol

most GPS’s have 2 limits, our 550 will hold 5000 caches or 20 GPX file. if you are loading them one at a time, that is considered a single GPX file and maybe why you are overwriting them.

Have never played with a PN-30 but would assume there are the same limits in place in those also.

The way I load is by hitting the “send to gps” button, I was able to do that on almost 1000 caches when I first got my gps. I have of course found and deleted almost 200, I have added others with no issue the same way. I have room for about 40 caches at this point (1000 limit for me) so I have no idea what is going on as I haven’t had this issue yet (that I know of-it’s hard to keep track of almost 1000 caches 🙂 ) I was just curious as to if it was the website or my gps, being that I am technology challenged, I am pretty clueless.

Myself I totally purge the GPS every week or two and load fresh. I do this as there always new caches being created and old ones being archived or being disabled. I’d personally hate to seek a cache which has been disabled just because three weeks ago when I loaded it into my GPS it was still OK….I think my limit is like 5,000 caches.

Maybe I will give that a shot… once I figure out how to do multiple sends 🙂 (I just have to read the instructions 🙂 )

I remember that redwinger had the same or similar problem a few months ago. If I remember right it had to do with long cache names that are the same for the first 20 or so characters. Try loading the first cache and then rename using your unit. Then try the second.

Thanks for the heads up, the series that kept loading over itself was the one released in Dretzka park a couple weeks ago. If I remember correctly, the names were similiar. I will keep an eye on this… again… thanks 🙂
