Wow… now I feel like mine is neglected because it hasn’t been named.
Im a bad, bad GPS parent. Its a Magellan Explorist 500. Works FANTASTICALLY, but probably thinks its name is “Dammit” by now due the ‘pre-find’ search rants.
Oh well.. Im sure theres a few other “Dammits” out there.

04/22/2008 at 2:46 am #1765329I have a name for my old caching van if that counts but otherwise my GPSr remains nameless. I’ve been told it wants to remain anonymous in case it decides to leave me. ( I wanted to say that before RB or OPS or the Bandits…errrr…Dennis wanted to make the comment)
04/22/2008 at 2:26 pm #1765330most of the time John tags along with me. sometimes I do it by myself. my cousin loves geocaching, but she lives in California or else I’m sure we’d get together more and do this together.

warning: reading this string of posts will take 20 years off your social life.
04/22/2008 at 7:36 pm #1765334Marc, I have to say you are the one who inspired me to upgrade my companion. After meeting Sheila, I was a bit jealous of what she did for you, so I went looking.
I found Shawn. Unlike Sheila, he does not talk. If I want him to show me what route to take, he does, if I just want him to point, he does that too. His beeping can get annoying, so I have been known to mute him from time to time.
He has been known to take me in circles and down the wrong road or in a private drive. I have been working hard at getting know his little quirks so I can compensate for his mistakes. He is especially handy as we are currently on a trip in Florida, so he has been pretty good at showing me around.
The thing I like best about Shawn is that he is always ready for caching!

04/28/2008 at 2:47 am #1765336I was also inspired after I met Sheila. So I bought Betty. She is my 60Csx. But today however my inspiration cup once again overflowed. So before heading out for a short caching run I made a stop and picked up a Garmin Nuvi 350. Now I have 2 companions in my life. She has yet to give me her name.
04/29/2008 at 1:11 am #1765337After all kinds of wining and dining, she gave me her name. She goes by the name Shirley. I guess because when I don’t like her route, I can say “Shirley you cant be serious!” Then my wife can say, “She is serious, and don’t call her Shirley!”
04/29/2008 at 1:33 am #1765338Well, my Garmin $@D $&@N $!#@E %F $#!* just got replaced with a Colorado…then I realizes I have been using it for over a year with WAAS disabled. So now I feel bad….. but not bad enough to go back to it….
BTW, I am FROM Colorado. born and raised, and I can’t think of any name prettier than that. except for Holle which is my Mother and Daughter’s name. But that doesn’t count:)
