I am looking for a campground that has sites that you are able to fish from. Whether that be pond, lake or river. I would prefer seclusion over fancy amenities and if possible within 2 hours of Milwaukee in any direction.
Thanks
Chris
The Wolf River Campground in New London is nice, but it is close to your 2 hour limit. It’s on the river and fishing downstream from the campground is good for smallmouth bass. Up stream is really good, but they have innertube trips that launch from a good fishing spot, easily disrupted when 40 tubes go by.
If you want seclusion, there is a nice spot near TE’s Crystaline cache (GCKMTW). Probably a little past your two hour limit, but it’s a nice area.
Bong State Park, Kenosha County.
Buckhorn SP
Tower Hill State Park outside Spring Green. Might be stretching it for mileage.
Hi. Is it for a scout outing? If so, I have a solution for you (near St. Point) which I think will be good. PM me.
If it’s for Scouting, then Camp Phillips – Beaver Point campsite is the absolute best in the state.
Thanks for all the good ideas. This camping trip is actually more of a guys fishing and relaxing weekend not scouting.

The Buckhorn sites are walk-in (with carts available), and most are right on the lake. You can get your boat right up to the shore, if you have one. Also, only pit potties and lots of room to yourselves, perfect if it’s a guys’ relaxing weekend.
Exit #69 on I-90/94 at Mauston, then another 10 miles or so–probably at your limit.
