Thinking back on Hartman in 2005 and Peninsula in 2007 I don’t think the WGA Campout experience implies a lack of rain and snow. πŸ™‚ But, it is very fun regardless of weather.

I think I see the problem — 2007 was at Hartman Creek!

Definitely planning on camping — not sure how many of my guys I can hoodwink into coming along. Fortunately, there are non-geocaching activities nearby

Oops! I was off a year. I meant Hartman in 2004 and Peninsula in 2006. (We’ve been to Hartman twice.)

Due to this… This will be our first time in a pop-up camper just in case the weather is cold and wet.

I just picked up a small camper trailer too for such occasions! Cannot wait to use it! Anyone know when they are going to make it official (on geocaching.com)?

OK, so who all will be camping this year?

Is there a formal process to requesting and getting space for camping at the event?

There are a bunch of people with various responses to this thread and others but could we or do we have a way of indicating our intentions a bit more formally than this?

    Thanks

If you plan to tent camp in the WGA reserved group campsites, we should be opening up online registration for that shortly… definitely before the end of the month. Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. We are only allowed 60 people on the sites we have this year.

Also note that there will be a fee charged for camping in the group sites. Typically it has been $8 to $10 per night, but we haven’t set that yet.

If you don’t want to go this route or if you have a trailer/RV, you can reserve a spot in one of the two family campgrounds in the park. These sites go from $15 to $20 per night.

Are we not allowed to camp with the group if we have a trailer or RV?!?

Unfortunately, the group sites are for tent camping only.

Thanks very much for the informative response Jeremy! That’s the info I was looking for.

Now that my wife and both daughters are out, and it is just me and my nephew. We will be tenting it as well. My first time camping in almost 15 years. Geocaching is changing my life!
