In case you missed the announcement in the April newsletter or missed the newsletter entirely, we are now accepting registrations for the campout. You can register on the event page on the WGA site:
Click on the “Add Registration” link.
We already have the group campsites half filled, so if you want to camp with the group you’ll need to register ASAP.
Some people have asked how to pay their $8 / night camping fee. This can be done through the WGA Store. Simply add the camping fees “item” to your cart and then check out. You can pay via PayPal or check/money order.
Because space is so limited, we are going to watch the payment of camping fees closely. If your camping fees aren’t paid in timely manner (a week or two seems reasonable unless you ask for more time) we do reserve the right to pull your group campsite reservation and let someone else in.
Also in the WGA Store we are selling Geo-Campout related apparel… t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies.
04/03/2008 at 9:54 pm #1887370How do you have the group campsites “half filled” if you just posted that registration was open 20 minutes ago?
04/03/2008 at 9:56 pm #1887371I did not receive an “april newsletter”.
–edit–
I guess I did get it. This one’s a case of the wife being the “spam filter”.

See this post. We’re half full after having registration open for less than 2 days.
04/03/2008 at 10:10 pm #1887373thanks for the info.
i have watched the geo-camput thread waiting for a registration announcement and it just seemed odd that when the announcement came that the site was already half full. that’s all I was saying.

The WGA Store page says you have until May 10th to pay the camping fee. Which is right? May 10th or a week or two?
04/23/2008 at 6:32 pm #1887375I’m sad to announce that the group campsites that the WGA has reserved have been booked to capacity. Therefore we are no longer accepting registrations for the event that include group campsite camping. (The WGA is limited to a maximum 60 people on the group sites… this is an inflexible limit set by the DNR.)
If you wish to camp that weekend, you can instead reserve a spot in one of the family campgrounds through the Reserve America website, or contact info [at] wi-geocaching [dot] com to get placed on a waiting list in case some people currently registered to camp in the group sites cancel.
04/24/2008 at 11:45 pm #1887376I just took a quick look at who has signed up for the campout vs. who has paid….
There are a TON of people who have signed up for the group camp but have not gone over to the WGA store to pay.
You can go here and pay for your camping fees, $8/night.
We accept Pay-Pal, credit cards (through Pay-Pal) and personal checks.

Is there any more room???? If so, for how many??After some cancellations, we had 4 spots in the group campsites open up. I’ve reserved 2 for Bunny FuFu (if she ever signs up for the event ;)) so there are 2 left. PM or email me if you want them…
04/29/2008 at 12:24 am #1887379Is that 2 PEOPLE? or two “camps”? not sure how the group thing works, but I am 99% sure that we are going to make it now, 2 of use for sure, but it might be 4 total, so how does that work?

That’s 2 people.
The group sites are essentially just big open areas where you set up wherever, there are no designated “sites” or “camps”. While we could probably cram more tents and people onto them, the DNR limits the number of people we can have at each group site (and they are serious about making sure we have an accurate count because we pay per person).
