I know I can’t but my latest cache is real cool. I decided to to a night cache. First one up in this area that I know of. I bought a can of that glow-in-the -dark spray paint. The container I used was a big mayo container. I also found some reflector stickers at the dollar store so I used them to mark the trail. Well, I had set the cache up during the day, but last night after work I went to see how everything looked at night. Pretty COOL! 8) 8) And the cache actually GLOWS!!! The paint worked.

The only bad thing is that I think I put 2 or 3 to many stickers up as there have been a few finds during the day. OH Well! Just have to make my next one tougher I guess. But this on is cool! 8) 8)

I’ve seen some newbie’s logging their own caches lately to do bug drops.

And if you get like me, you might be able to log it as a find when you go to do maintenance on it and it takes you a hour to find it.

I found here at a local checker auto parts store, reflective tape that glows bright white at night, but is black during the day. If properly installed it becomes virtually impossible to find during the day.

    See: GC9178 and GCH1QB

For both of those caches I used “Scotchlite Reflective Tape”. The number on the package is: 03468C

It’s not as if you’re losing your memory, RSplash40, or getting old, or can’t find caches very well. It’s like the little boy in the Kenny Rogers song, who didn’t know he “could pitch that well.” You just hide ’em good!

Oops, so as not to steal this thread, I logged TB drops as “found it’s” when I started. “It’s Not About The Numbers” notified me of my multiple finds of individual caches. To keep the numbers true, I corrected them to “write notes”. Even though INATN, it hurt a little to see my finds number get smaller.

And to tug another thread from this quickly unraveling cloth, have you noticed how we (the cache-placers) like to control the experience of the finder – night caches evolve to a point where they can (in theory) only be accomplished at night. But some take the challenge, for whatever reason, to use what clues they can (stickers on a tree in daylight), to find a cache no matter the circumstances.
And some caches give you a wide-open experience to take what you will.

We will do what we can to find cache.
It is a matter of survival as a geocacher.

    OK. Too much coffee.

Try this link to Fire Tacks. They sell these tacks that are brown in color and almost invisible on trees, but at night they are unreal bright, and can be seen no matter what angle you come at them from. The pyramid shaped ones anyway). I bought a set, and tried them out in my local forest, but have yet to set up that night cache.

The Fire Tacks and Fire Tape look COOL!!!

I noticed that a Newbie had logged a cache twice, one for the find and one for a TB drop, and sent a friendly e-mail to advise on the proper procedure. I received a very defensive and somewhat nasty response. The Newbie advised me that he was following the proper procedure. That’s news to me??? I’d bet the newbie got that bit of wisdom from some geocoin pirate or TB collector.
