Greetings Candidates! First of all, thank you for your interest in running for the WGA Board!
The WGA has a lot of things it does for the community, and a lot more behind the scenes. As a community member, what’s one area of the WGA you can see runs smoothly, and one area that could use some improvements?

01/09/2023 at 8:20 am #2071120WGA’s communication is great! Whether through the newsletter, Facebook, or emails, information about WGA’s happenings are readily available.
One area I’d like to improve on is to not only rotate events in the four quadrants of the state, but rotate within the quadrants itself.

01/09/2023 at 10:34 am #2071121I would also like to say that the WGA’s communication is great. I especially think the use of social media is done very well. There are always timely posts regarding all the fun things happening from the photo of the month, tips and tricks, lonely cache game, etc.!
I agree with Jeff about rotating events withing the state quadrants but would expand on that by having more ways to educate cachers on ways to set up those events; an “event 101” course, display, or newsletter-style write up.
01/09/2023 at 4:47 pm #2071126I love how well informed the WGA keeps everyone. Not only on the website but all the socials. You all work hard in that area. Thank you!
To further expand on the last reply concerning the idea about event planning education. That would be so helpful to maybe yearly put on a ” How to pull off a successful event ,101″ or something of that nature.

01/09/2023 at 8:57 pm #2071127I believe that the WGA does a great job at social media, i.e. Facebook is a great way to share information not only to current Geocachers but also to those who are not familiar with this fabulous game. I can share posts that hopefully get others interested or at least start asking questions.
I would like to see the WGA explore ways to get more of the northern areas of Wisconsin involved in the larger events. Possibly coming up with a MEGA of the North.
01/11/2023 at 12:14 pm #2071143I think communication from the WGA via Facebook and the more focused newsletters has been great. However, I feel the website itself could use some refreshing. It still holds a lot of good information, but some pages are no longer up to date.
There is currently some rotation of events around the state, but do agree with other comments that it would be nice to get another event further north.

01/16/2023 at 12:44 pm #2071188I believe the events are well executed. There always seems to be a wide variety of interesting new caches, cool merchandise, and opportunities to socialize. I love the series that have been put out as well. State Parks once upon a time and the new IAT series are awesome.
I’d like to see a more accessible list of things the board and committees currently have in the works. One thing I’ve done at previous organizations was to keep a spreadsheet where one could see all current open items with start date, budget, who is responsible for the item, and a brief update on current status. When it’s complete, move it to the completed tab so people can see what has been accomplished. It’s easier to see what’s going on at a glance rather than combing through months of meeting minutes and can be updated as things are progressing.
01/19/2023 at 4:23 pm #2071210I am going to point back to my goals for 2023 and the need to organize to recruit more volunteers. I think more people would like to be involved with the WGA but do not see how or where they could do something.
I also would like to see more CITO events across the state. This perhaps is another thing that members do not realize that WGA does have some funding planned to assist with the supplies to make these happen.
