There are 9 people on the WGA Board of Directors.  That can sometimes mean 9 different opinions and ideas.  Some of those ideas may compliment your own, some may be completely contradictory to your own.  How will you handle differences of opinions that may arise during your time?  What are your experiences working closely with others to accomplish tasks?

Working as a team you always have to remember one thing there is no “I” in team. I have been employed at the same job for almost 21 years that for a large amount of time you have to work as a team. Sometimes the ideas are not the same but the goal is the same get the job done to the best of your abilities. I am sure that every bodies ideas won’t be the same but as a team you have to think what is the best for the WGA and the members. If we can all agree on the item at hand great but if not we will discuss and all come out with a winning idea that everyone will be happy with. I always been a team player and always will be there to assist the team best I an. Thank you for the question.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

I have had to work in many groups at work, and also in school.  Sometimes it’s been quite a challenge, but you pull together and you do what it takes to get the job done.  While in school, I was placed in many groups of varying age groups, different backgrounds and different work ethics.  My grades depended on the group effort, so I wanted to succeed.  That meant at times I had to be the bad guy and “nag” people to get their work done, other times it meant just giving direction.  Sometimes it was others in the group pushing me to rethink my opinions as well.  The point is that it takes everyone in a group to help each other, and to challenge each other to do their best.  You may not always agree with how things are done, or ideas that are shared, but remaining respectful and listening to each other’s views and opinions is important.

If you would have asked me this question a few years ago, I may have answered, my way is always the right way.  But now, as I have been a head coach for various baseball teams and a den leader I have learned the leadership of the whole groups opinion leads to a better a result more people are happy and usually there becomes more involvement with the group.  Granted its regular that opinions are going to vary but in the end we are as a WGA board member following the same set of rules and should make decisions to better the organization.  Placing caches that follow the rules, events, and giving the advice to keep geocaching a community a community favorite instead of becoming a thorn in the side of other agencies.

I really have felt over my years on the BOD, it has meant working with a host of characters!  The best years have been when everyone contributes and participates even if we did not agree on everything.  Agree to disagree has to be the mode of operation to make it all work.  I really feel if everyone contributes and brings their strengths to the table we could have a strong year.

My experiences working with teams range from being a current BOD member, to my many work related responsibilities, to being the Aquatics Section Chair for the WPRA to my past experiences with Girl Scouts.

My experience working as a team is that everyone on that team has to pull their own weight.  My team that I work with on a daily basis makes up less than 3% of our total employees, and we are responsible for the maintenance on all of our machines. If we don’t work as a team, we stand to cost our company thousands of dollars an hour.  Teamwork is essential for smooth daily operation.

Smooth operation is just as important for the WGA, it just doesn’t cost as much if we have a bump in the road.  Working together as a team, the BOD should be able make decisions quickly and easily, in the best interests of the organization. While there may be differences of opinions between board members, as a team they should be able to come to an agreement on the best course to follow.

It is evident by the responses to these candidate questions, that there are a lot of different ideas that are going to be brought to the board with the incoming board members, but I’m sure that everyone will come together as a team and make great decisions that will benefit the WGA in a very positive way.

My posts should in no way be considered as the views or opinions of the WGA or its Board of Directors. All posts made under my name are my personal opinions only.
