MemberA couple days, or at most a week ago, I read a topic here about a cache I believe was in Illinois that had not been found. I think it was a 5 star shelter cache. I can’t find the topic anywhere, can someone please point it out to me?
Thanks in advance!

MemberDo you guys think it is even there, or just a good joke for the C.O.?? I mean, this place has been torn apart by some pretty accomplished cachers. What do you think?

MemberWell, in theory it should be there right? gc.com rules and all. But who knows… if I get down there, I’ll probably make a go of it, just because.

Then it should be archived.
There was another example of this recently discussed thoroughly on the gc.com forums. That example was archived by an out of state volunteer reviewer. Hey Wizkid, why don’t you take care of this one 😉

I’m so gullible…I didn’t even consider that possibility. I guess I never learn (Gauntlet).

MemberI guess I don’t understand what a Liar’s cache is but I knew of a true physical cache in Indiana that had 69 DNFs before it was archived due to environmental impact.
GC14X33
That cache was truely there but so difficult to locate. I don’t see why this one would be any different that there would be doubts as to its being there.

MemberA liar’s cache is one which is generally easy to find but asks folks to lie in their log saying how hard it was or that they couldn’t find it or to make up some kind of story. This type of cache is no longer allowed as the liars portion is considered an ALR (Additional Logging Requirement) if a lie is REQUIRED to log the cache…. Not sayin it is one but agreeing it is a possibility.

MemberNo way am I archiving an Illinois cache (although I did archive one just over the border by accident once.) You will notice that the Indiana cache was archived by the owner, not by a reviewer.

Chicken. 😆
The example I posted was archived by a reviewer from out of state. It is not the same example as the indiana cache labrat mentions.
Not sure if the one I read about was actually a “liar cache” or a “lying owner” I would guess the latter considering it was archived forcefully.
I would guess the example this thread is about sounds more like what marc implied.
